CSK Fan Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 After the euphoria of the world cup win and test number one ranking, Indian team seems to have cooled down recently causing lots of blood letting amongst the wrist-slitters masquerading as Indian fans. Big deal was made out of two back to back series defeats which were but warm ups on the road to the T20 world cup win. There are still people out there who predict a gloomy future once the superstars like Dravid and Sachin retire. I, on the other hand, am pretty upbeat about our future prospects and will go to the extent to claim that we are on the right track to dominate all forms of cricket for the next 20 years. And these are the upcoming superstars who have given me the faith and confidence 1) Rohit Sharma Whether its the quiet elegance with which he chops the ball onto his stumps or style with which he guides the ball dead-center of a slip-fielder's palms, Rohit's style and class cannot be denied. Often called the most stylish batsman on the planet among those with a sub-35 average, only Umar Akmal can come close, albeit a distant second, to Rohit. The slow backward glance and the quiet shake of his head after getting out shows what he is made of. Plus, throwing in an occasional abuse to other fielders who were not fit enough to follow up when the ball passes between his leg while fielding, shows his captaincy potential too. Immensely talented, immensely elegant and immensely chubby, he has the right ingriedients to rule the batting world for a long time. He is the Sachin to Kohli's Dravid with his talent and dedication far surpassing anything Kohli could ever achieve 2) R Ashwin Ashwin has replaced the irreplacable Bhajji from the Indian team and a billion hearts. I admit I was apprehensive about losing the sher dil world champion Harbhajan. His bowling might be replaced but nobody could replace his foul mouth. But Ashwin adds a completely different variety to the Indian attack. A tall lanky lad, his running between the wicket provides hope to epileptics all over the world that they too could join the Indian team one day. In order to replace Bhajji, Ashwin had to work hard on his bowling, he had to work hard on his batting but, most of all, he had to work hard at sucking up to Dhoni. Only a stronger bond could replace another strong bond and Ashwin finally won Dhoni's and hence the selector's confidence. Star material right there 3) Vinay Kumar Though Vinay Kumar has refuted rumours of his being Praveen Kumar's lost twin brother, the surname is not the only thing common between the two champion bowlers. Each competing with the other for being the person who loses line and length at the least pace possible, the Indian bowling attack cannot be in more able hands. Difficult to chose between the two but I am going with Vinay as he has age on his side, though Dhoni seems to have aged 10 years with both in the team. Vinay can make the ball move both ways and reach the slip fielders more often than not. While batting, that is. While bowling, he can bowl ten overs on the 'trots', and much more when he does not have the 'runs'. A workhorse you can bet on 4) Ravindra Jadeja Jadeja is the all-rounder India deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Clearly ahead of his time and born in the wrong country which does not appreciate his immense contributions, Jadeja has still taken everything in his stride and moved unflichingly ahead. Suffice to say that this lad has the goods to deliver. Maybe he will do that in the cricket field too. His spin is handy (i.e he uses his hands) and his batting is half-decent (or a quarter, we are not too picky here). Which alone surpasses the average Indian all-rounder. Suffice to say that his star is going to be shining bright in the Indian sky for a long, long time, like the one dim star in an otherwise cloudy sky whcih hides the other brighter stars. 5) Shanthakumaran Sreesanth Sometimes a nation is so lucky, so blessed, that once in a lifetime greats are born into it. The day Sreesanth was born in India was however, not such a day. When Sreesanth chose to become a cricketer and a fast bowler, he had a lot to live up to. He came from a country with a long 'non-existing' line of fast bowlers and from a state whose contribution to Indian cricket can be engrained on a piece of grain and still leave space for Sreesanth's full name. And he has completely lived up to his 'non'-pedigree with an equally 'non'-performance. Sreesanth, at his tender age, has achieved the following records through his immesne talent Most talented Indian bowler to bowl the maximum wides in ODIs Most talented Indian bowler to dance in TV shows Most talented bowler ever to cry on national TV Most talented bowler to be slapped by a team-mate and then call him brother only to narrowly avoid being slapped again Most talented indian bowler to give the most runs at the most pace against most batsmen Sreesanth clearly has age on his side and has all the requirements of being the future leader of this classy bunch. With 3 bowlers and 1 all rounder among India's upcoming star, future looks good. Each and everyone of these super-stars will make India proud and I only hope success does not go to their heads, or hips, or wherever success usually tends to go. I have seen the future. the future is bright, the future is here, and the future is Santhakumarn Sreesanth. God bless India
