Senior batsman Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday said that team India are confident of a good show at home against England and Australia but will certainly aim at preparing well when they play away series against these two teams next time. "We need to look at one factor. When we played against Australia, they were the home team. England also played at home. There is no point in saying that India only plays well at home. Why do we always look at one side of the coin, it should be always fair," the senior batsman said.

What's wrong in what he said? If you go through the complete article, this is what he said:

"I feel that it does not come as an excuse for us to go somewhere and not play well. We need to go abroad and win. It's as simple as that. We have done it before (winning abroad). Both England and Australia tours were tough for us. We should make every possible effort to perfect our preparation and produce better results," Tendulkar told Headlines Today.

So, he is clearly stating the importance of winning abroad. How does this account to no wonder we losing 8-0?

India won series just in 2-3 overseas tour(outside subcontinent) in last 25 years...By law of probability you bound to win some series with decent players but can't win consistently unless something is done with pitches in india....With dhoni giving excuse of pitches even in subcontinent its tough to win with this mindset.

Had he simply not acceppted that they were poor then it would have been a problem. Here he has actually agreed to that fact but also is stating that they would look to improve. As for the 1st part, it's plain diplomacy saar.. That's how statements are made out in the public.

This statement would have been fine if they had lost both series like 2-0 or 2-1 but not when whitewashed 0-8. In both the series alone Tendulkar and Indians lost more tests than they ever won in those countries through out his career.This guy along with many other guys have played in those countries number of times and him even referring them being home team will will be viewed only as an excuse. As he said there will be up and downs nobody denies it but being 0-8 and not even showing any semblance of fight back and character is not acceptable that too from team which is very experienced.It is not like it is back in 1992 when he was touring OZ for the first time.

What Tendulkar said reflects our team and BCCI's attitude in general. When Srinivasan & Shukla said we avenged the 0-4 Test drubbing by sweeping England 5-0 in odis it said it all. Tendulkar's latest cmmnt is just more of the same. When you are content with status quo you can never improve. I never heard Aus team of late 90s or 2000s ever making an excuse or justifying a poor series. When they kept on losing to India in India they didn't go "but we demolished them at home". They made win in India their focal point, so much so that Waugh/Aussies even dubbed it their "final frontier" and said win in India means more than Ashes. Never once we heard even one Aussie making an excuse for their poor performance in India. I guess that's the difference between great and mediocre teams and sadly I don't see much scope of improvement.

I don't care much about England, we've won there 3 times. India won't win in Australia, unless that casual attitude in us is dissolved. IPL has provided entertainment, but at the same time it has injected a casual attitude in players. And I shouldn't blame players for this, if an average state player can earn more than 100k $ by playing few T20 games, then why should he worry about Tests?

Lack of thorough preparation was one of the major reason. Skipping West Indies tour was one of it. We made England and Australia look better than they were.

But since the next few series for India are home series, he also questions the hypocrisy of putting teams' home wins down when even they are hard earned. This was the only context of what Sachin said and the only reason why he brought up home matches. He was not justifying our away loses, he was questioning those who put down home wins, which is exactly what English media do when they lose in India So basically what Sachin said was 1) home wins are important and should not be put down or discarded, it never happens with other countries 2) No excuses for away loses, we need better preperation and effort And this you have twisted to BCCI attitude and what else without even clicking on the link and reading the article

How am I a "blind Sachin hater" when I am questioning the attitude of the team and BCCI :dontknow: Maybe you should stop getting your panties in a twist everytime you read the name "Tendulkar" on this forum. You are so defensive about Tendulkar and clearly so quick to jump at perceived slight at Tendulkar you miss the main point. The main point in this case is not about Tendulkar but about the attitude of team and BCCI in general. As I said earlier you never heard the likes of Waugh, Ponting, Gilchrist etc. moaning about Australia's great home record when they lost to India in India. They manned up, admitted they were not good enough and fought even harder the next time. Regards "Tendulkar hater" comment, I have criticised Umesh's bowling, Sehwag mindlessly throwing his wkt away, Zak's fitness, Gambhir playing IPL through an injury and then skipping intl matches last year, Ashwin's running between the wkts and his general laziness & lack of agility on the field, Dhoni's defensive approach in Tests, calling for Laxman & Dravid to retire/dropped etc. So am I a "hater" of all these players as well? The problem with you is that your stand is "Tendulkar can do no wrong", whereas I am calling it as I see it, be it selfish 100th 100 or his pick and choose policy. The difference IMO is that I care more about the Indian team & Team India's performance whereas you are hung upon an individual player. I wouldn't mind any player being dropped, be it Dhoni, Sehwag, Gambhir, Kohli etc. if it benefits the team and the team improves whereas you won't mind seeing Tendulkar carry on forever even though the team regresses as long as Tendulkar gets his records.

Why do people analyze every word, phrase, sentence that these cricketer say. You gotta realize thy are just giving interviews. In these interviews neither do the interviewers ask pointedly tough questions nor do players give in depth answers. Even if the interviewers do corner the cricketers, they normally play the diplomatic card. There's no point in paying too much attention to such interviews. The best interviews for cricketers are the ones where they are asked to describe or share their wisdom on cricketing matters. Fir ex - how to tackle a specific kind of bowling, what kinda practice routines to follow, how they practiced, etc. Don't cling on to every word that these fellows say. Besides cricketers say it under a context...no point in isolating one or two sentences from the context and beat it to death. Besides Sachin was and continues to be a poor interviewee when it comes to discussing general things...stuff that is not related to technicalities of the game Before the accusers come out with their knives and guns, this post is not defending Sachin. I am just sharing my opinion about the worth of such interviews - zilch
