indiefan
Funny article on NZ-Aus rivalry http://au.sports.yahoo.com/news/kiwi-media-rub-salt-australian-070026460.html "Hey Aussies, we want to draw your disordered attention to a little line item on the Olympic Games gold medal table," the article said. "We're talking about the line that seems to have been censored in Australian newspapers. The one that puts New Zealand ahead of Australia, the self-styled world's greatest sporting nation." It urged New Zealanders to "enjoy the moment while it lasts". The Herald on Sunday said "Oz's dark cloud has a silver fern", referring to New Zealand's national symbol, declaring: "They (Australia) claim to be green and gold, now they're just green with envy." suraj
U.S guys protest everything i guess. In Gymnastics one US girl finished fourth. Russia finished third. They protested and won the bronze http://www.businessinsider.com/aly-raisman-bronze-olympics-2012-8 These kind of protests and challenges actually undermine the +ve impact of technology and advances in decision making that have been implemented in sports. Challenges & reviews are becoming a norm in all sports and its a good thing so as to avoid outrageous results but in thus case Americans decided to protest because "there was nothing to lose!!!" Infact there was already an appeal prepared even before the event so that an appeal is filed no matter what if the results are close- of course the media termed this as "quick thinking coach's smart move" There is also too much inconsistency across sports in Olympics- challenges in gymnastics upheld ( even though grey areas) to change medals but no change in some outrageous boxing scoring!!! vvvslaxman
CORRECTION it was catalina ponor from romania that lost to her twice in 60 minutes http://www.romania-insider.com/romanias-catalina-ponor-takes-silver-on-the-floor-but-loses-out-again-to-american-alexandra-raisman/62783/ here is a comment from Romanian lol Americans always win when they complain but we as Romanians never have a say. Is a normal typical political decision, all the country's took a gold medal just to make happy everybody. Congrats to Catalina for her performance and like a Romanian i am proud that you represent us. Like Reply
