Temperament lets Rohit down 147707.2.jpg

Someone lesser talented would always have the blueprint for each innings, as structuring the innings correctly is imperative to their success. Rohit doesn't seem to understand the need to avoid playing high-risk shots at the beginning of the innings or the value of consciously moving his feet slightly quicker in certain conditions or during bad phases. He was guilty of slashing outside the off-stump early on in the innings only to nick it to the wicketkeeper many-a-times in Australia.

Looks like we need to create one giant thread for Rohit Sharma similar to a Tendulkar thread where we can talk about Rohit's tailunt, temperament, technique, IPL exploits and what Gambhir thinks about him.

Does anyone else think that Rohit has a serious problem of playing away from his body?

Rahane's front foot is not that good as a short guys he stays on back foot a lot.

not saying he is perfect.. but over all when i see him play i think he can handle most balls better then nohit even kohli is far from perfect...but key to batting is to know ur limitation and play to ur strength rohit is clearly unable to do that

btw rkt do u think pujara has perfect technique ?
you rarely see perfect technique and there is nothing like perfect. All have their share of flaws.

yes its all about how u overcome them i think rahane, pujara deal with there limitations much better .. i have not seen rohit over come this problem at all..he is type of guy who will keep making same mistake again n again unless some one teaches him the hard way

Where does temperament comes in when he gets out a lot of times trying to defend the ball? This guy is as overrated as Vinod Kambli was at one time. Kambli too was stylish to watch but lacked both technique and temperament.

Very few players have textbook technique. You can count them out on your finger tips.

He has got enough temperament. He almost cost us the game against Pak in Asia cup because of tuk tuk. He is very vulnerable during his 1st 20-30 balls. He woke up from a 3 days sleep and got down to the field to face Malinga.

What let Aakash "edge to third man" Chopra down?
Haha..well his failings as a player notwithstanding, he is a good writer and accurate observer of Indian cricket related issues. Particulary on domestic cricket. You may well think he not one to speak/write, which might well be true to be honest... But he has still achieved more than many cricket journos who have played no high level cricket at all...
