SK Raina has the will to succeed. That will make him a good test batsman. He may not have the best technique, then neither does Sehwag. He is a hard worker, and I will take him any day over super talented Rohits & going beyond the expiry date Laxmans.

He will always be around he Tests setup for us. In case Rahane/Pujara/Rohit don't work for us I can see selectors going back to Raina.

so true at the same he needs to be consistent in odis to be in the radar of test selection since he may not be able to play fc matches cos of busy schedules

Raina has already had a go in the test side and should not be given another chance before other ranji leading performers are given a fair go first. I'd say Pujara is a waaay better test prospect than Raina. Raina can be a leading reserve for our test line-up for games played in the sub-continent for now.

I would have Pujara at 3 and Kohli as of now at 6. Once Sachin retires(maybe in 2020), then, if Kohli has not retired, have him at #4.

I am a big Kohli fan and seeing his appetite for Runs I want him to play as much as he can .. I bet he will score even more 100s in tests than he has in ODIs. Pujara is a great bat and can do well at any position. He would not mind.

We are so fickle, it is unreal. Just 5 months or so back, he was all but sorted in ODI series in Australia except the final ODI and now after some good success in sub continent he is back to being a test contender. I like him but he is not test material.

So he can be relied upon atleast until we find someone decently good outside the SC. ATM I dont see any of our youngsters doing brilliantly good in Aus, Saf or Eng or even WI for that matter as was shown by that A tour, so why not give a fair run to raina.

offcourse after Pujara and Kohli but earlier when Yuvi used to fail again and again but we persisted with him I was even then of the opinion that Raina should play instead of Yuvi but the selectors gave him a go only when Yuvi was injured .. that was what bothered me .. he never got a fixed place in the test side .. even in England where we claim he failed he only got a chance after Yuvi injured his finger or something .. We should give him 2-3 proper full series to see if he can be consistent or not .. he should be given a fixed slot for those tests with a definite role like he has in ODIs. But yeah at this moment I would pick Kohli and Pujara ahead of him but any day will pick him above Rahane.

He will for sure make runs in SC .. But we can only presume unless he plays so no point arguing. Agree he was shite in England but then he was found out by the english bowlers and never had a chance to work at that fault in his technique but we should not complain as in that series all of our batters barring dravid struggled. I remember Raina getting a 70 odd at Lords but after that he lost all confidence. I am sure he would have worked on that and will be better next time.

no he wont make runs in sub continent surely ... far from it its not that easy guy struggled against swann in england what will happen here ? he needs to improve a bit and then dream abt tests short ball is not the problem .. problem is his mindset he always expects hort ball and is not fully forward like his usual self and gets out same thing happened in india too .. in odis i dont think he will survive at no 4 tbh i rememb there was time before world cup where expecting him to play more then 15-20 overs was really big deal!anyway gtglater ! :P

Mukund and Dhawan have a lot of work to do to get there. Mukund looked totally out of sorts and looked he couldn't handle a full-pitched delivery on the stumps and so far nothing's changed going by his performances in India A's tour to WI.

This is one more reason why I want Raina in the test side in place of Laxman .. just to add a bit of variety to our batting which is pretty much one-dimensional
