rahane should be in test squad. even before raina. mandeep or chand should be in place of sachin once he has hung his boots. infact mandeep should be in place of nohit. and if only that chaiwala notches up his bowling to the level of afridi, we will have strongest odi unit if not already.

Mandeep seems better than Rahane. I have seen Rahane bat a bit in IPL' date=' apart from those 2 100s he struggled a bit. Not that impressed as i was before. Whereas Mandeep scored more consistently.[/quote'] and apart from those 2-3 50's mandeep struggled :dontknow: i dont like this word apart for this same reason :giggle:

No one should go into ODI or Test set-up directly. BCCI have finally kick-started the useful India A tours covering 4 day, one day, and T20s. All potential India prospects (young and old) should be selected for these tours. Pujara proved his worth not only in West Indies but earlier India A tour to England (3 years back!!). Mukund struggled horribly in West Indies and has been given a second chance for NZ tour. And finally rightly Rohit Sharma is neither in the senior squad or India A squad. There are also some suspicious selections of Chawla in Seniors, and then dope Rahul Sharma for India A. This is expected with BCCI and it's selectors, we will have to live with this type of cronyism. On a side note, this next India A tour has got some exciting players to keep an eye out for: Chand, Mandeep, Rayudu, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shami, Surya, and of course Vinay:dance:.

Rahane's six hitting ability does seem limited when compared to the others' date='so maybe he's not meant for LOI's[/quote'] u dont need to hit sixes in odis remember australia? any one ? an island where next world cup will be played and where our all batsmen other then gauti(at one ground ) kohli and dhoni struggled to get bat on ball ? (forget sixes! :wall)

Rahane's six hitting ability does seem limited when compared to the others' date='so maybe he's not meant for LOI's[/quote'] this is the only problem i see. if only that dude was built like jayasuriya or sachin. he cant bat lower then 3 in LOI.

So how do you know that Rahane will be better than these guys.If u say its because he looks solid, then the same can be said of Pujara.Dhoni struggled?i remember him finishing some games for us

Well yeah, who knows his potential ability may be higher than Rahane (like Mandy may be crickets next Messi whereas Rahane slightly less potential :haha:). We'll find out in upcoming years. If potential ability of Mandy is higher and temprament under pressure is good no way Rahane will be better regardless how hard he tries. Cause hardwork and coaching will be there for both Im sure. For everything there are gonna be people naturally better, if Jadega and Tendulkar batted the same hours with same coaching and bowlers, SRT is gonna be better. Someone has to be the best too. Rooney can try as hard as he wants but in an overall career will be nowhere near Messi although if Messi doesn't perform to potential in one game but Rooney does he will have played better for that one game. But both these look good, too early to say. Whos a choker whos not, whos injury prone etc.
Another, theory from our Ph.D in Genetics here. Ability/Potential == Genetics!

just b'cos rahane dont hit sixes as fluently as other youngsters he is a non potential batsman now lol wat kind of an analyse is this:hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:

You keep missing the point, whatever skills or fitness components or any other factors are required one person may be better than another. I don't know what it is for batsmen Im guessing reaction time, hand eye coord, agility (foot work) maybe speed and even muscular power. Good batmen have combination of these and are naturally better than others in all areas. Everything has genetics. VO2 max for example is important in cycling. Pro cyclist have really high VO2 max (can only be altered 10%-18% by training). Its largely genetic. Having really high VO2 max already makes you better suited for long distance events than 90% of population. And then the winning cyclists usually have higher VO2 max than losing. Also higher lactate inflection point meaning they can work anaerobically for longer (higher naturally increased further with training) However to be the best of the best nurture, environment, ability under pressure come in to play. Also another example is Indian hockey on grass. Western nations spent more, better coaching, better facilities yet India and Pak dominated for 4 decades straight. If that isnt being naturally better what is? Whatever combinations of skills or fitness components were required for Hockey we were naturally better than others. Miles ahead hence no competition. And Messi is ahead genetically for whatever is required for football.
Dude, You better do not talk science to me at least. I agree there is inherent capability & ability. I give that to you but to go on a genetic flag mission & argue certain genes present is a totally different matter.

Dunno like you know how height is largely determined at birth diet makes some difference. I say taller person genetically ahead in this area. VO2 max largely genetic. As for bodytype mesomorphs are more suited to bodybuilding naturally better than others, I say they are genetically superior in that area. Someone naturally has better hand eye coord, reaction time, agility etc I say they are genetically superior batsman. Someone has higher fast twitch fibre ratio (natural cant really be changed much) they are better fast bowlers and sprinters than someone with higher slow twitch (many other factors) I say they are genetically superior in this area. Blacks better sprinters than whites. Former West Africans are best sprinters, East Africans are best long distance runners I say they are genetically superior in that area. I was probably using wrong word then? :dontknow: tailunt is the one
The issue is that you make the statement - Genetically better, always better suited. Not true, there are multiple factors which affect them. Read up more on VO2 max and you will understand that it is not a good predictor of performance. Potential, inherent ability - good be some words you could use to avoid the misnomers.
