ShebbySB Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 After repeated failures of Rohit Sharma I think these two should be in the ODI setup. Sachin should retire from ODIs & play test cricket for another 3-4 years else Rahane have to dig hole in the benches for a while. These should be India's ODI squad for a while:- Openers-Sehwag,Gambhir,Rahane. Middle order-Kohli,Raina,Yuvraj(he'll be back pretty soon),Manoj,Mandeep & Chand. Keeper/Bat-Dhoni,Naman Ojha/Dinesh Karthik.I don't think Uthappa should be selected as a keeper who can bat.He can only come back as a batsman who can keep in necessity but not on regular basis. He's not a good enough keeper. All-rounder-Irfan.We don't have another genuine all-rounder right now.Even Irfan is only half-decent.Jadeja got to step up his game quite a few notches if he wants to come back & Yousuf can't be considered except for T20s with his consistently inconsistent performances. Spinners-Ashwin,Rahul,Harbhajan.He should've been in the ODI squad in the first place, not in tests though. Seamers-Zaheer,Vinay,Dinda,Aaron,Shami,Awana.Praveen,Ishant & Umesh should only play test matches.Specially the latter two. Zaheer is still our best seamer in all formats but I think he should also priorities test cricket as he's almost 34 right now.If he plays test cricket only he can play till 37-38 like McGrath or Chris Martin.
JaFanatic Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 dhoni© gambhir(vc) sehwag kohli yuvraj manoj raina ashwin praveen aaron zaheer rahul pragyan awana sreesanth parthiv tendulkar this should be our squad for odis
velu Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 from whatever i saw , mandeep singh is a compulsive puller , will be useful in australian conditions.. we dont have any serious hole in our ODI batting unit other than No 7 slot and our bowlers suck anyway :((
Old guy Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 no need to waste them at lower order both are suited to top order and will be useful in tests in future..im worried abt people who play lower down the order for india in odis most of them end up messing up there test game imo
JaFanatic Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 they can be included in the odi squad sadly they have nothing to do with in regular XI
msb1991 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I disagree. Neither have List A centuries, Chand only has one List A fifty. Wait for them to conquer adult domestic cricket and then they can be brought in.
BeautifulGame Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Does our U-19 squad contain any fast bowling all rounders
saneindian Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 What have they done to deserve the India cap? Haven't even played for India A yet.

saneindian Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Does our U-19 squad contain any fast bowling all rounders The only one close to that is Rush Kalaria, a medium pacer and is a decent bat.
Needforspeed Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 I think Suryakumar Yadav deserves to be ahead of Mandeep Singh and Unmukt Chand.

SLICKR392 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Mandeep isn't an International material. He would just fail like Vijay or Dhawan.

ShebbySB Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 I thought sometimes players are selected based on talent & promise. Both of them are blessed with that.If Aaron can play test & Umesh can play ODIs then it proves that talent has nothing to do with irrelevant domestic records.
msb1991 Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 If Aaron can play test & Umesh can play ODIs then it proves that talent has nothing to do with irrelevant domestic records. Umesh has done abysmally in ODIs. Aaron has played one Test and did okay...but still just one Test.
jusarrived Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Mandeep isn't an International material. He would just fail like Vijay or Dhawan. Will play for India and avg 50 . Test Class .
ShebbySB Posted August 3, 2012 Author Posted August 3, 2012 Umesh has done abysmally in ODIs. Aaron has played one Test and did okay...but still just one Test. I also believe that Umesh should only stick to test cricket for now though Mandeep & Ummukt are good bet for ODIs.I think Mandeep will be in the test squad after Laxman retires. We'll have Sehwag,Gambhir & Rahane as openers,Kohli,Sachin,Pujara at no.3,4 & 5 respectively. It opens a spot at no.6 & Mandeep is the front runner for that.Manoj maybe an option but he'll be severely exposed in the foreign conditions as he's extremely vulnerable to pace bowling.
