How highly do you rate Kallis, the batsman?

All 3 have S/R of 90+ while scoring centuries. next pls? :giggle: Still I agree he is not one of the best in ODI's as a batsman alone. As an Allrounder though he also qualifies as an ATG in ODI, imo of course. In tests he is unarguably one of the best batsman of this era.

m not sayin he's not an ATG allrounder or a good batsman if ppl call srt a selfish for a 100 he scored in 120+ balls then he too is a selfish for scorin 142 balls 100 y such bs oly for an indian?

I rate him pretty high as a cricketer, not purely just as a batsman alone. The guy will be a huge loss for SA when he retires and SA will find it extremely tough to replace him. He does have a knack of putting a high price on his wkt and not go for the shots in the shorter format even though the situation demands it. But overall he is a big plus for his team.

I did call him selfish there didn't I :giggle: To quote "not go for the shots in the shorter format even though the situation demands it" which is being selfish. That's why I wouldn't play him in T20s coz he's way too slow in that format. In odis I will play him at 3 to stabilise the innings and in Tests he's class all the way.

Don't think the "selfish" accusations make any sense in Tests. In T20s yes, in odis maybe but in Tests batsmen should actually be graded higher for playing out time!

If we, bangladesh had his services we wouldnt have to suffer so much. And as for India, a pace bowling allrounder like kallis would do wonders to the team chemistry.

TO me he is pretty soild and always a treat to the opposition specially when it comes to test cricket .Like most South African batsmen he to finds it difficult to tackle spinners .overall ,he is one of its kind .It will be almost impossible for South Africa to find his replacement .

There s absolutely no denying his greatness. He has been an absolute rock for the SAffers who has been constantly improving. He has also been a part of a very strong side since his beginning so his runs scored have always had a high degree of value attached, specially because of the bowling+fielding of SA.His records against Oz and England are a bit debatable but I am pretty sure he would be making up for them this time around. Overall, IMO, as a batsman, he is in the 2nd grade, i.e below Sachin, Lara and alongside Ponting and Dravid.
