How's reaching 115/3, or scoring 97 "70% of the work" and taking India from 115/3 to 275 or scoring 92 off 79 just 30% of the work :dontknow: What sort of formula did you apply and what sort of calculations are these :hmmm: Maybe you took a page out of Messers Duckworth & Lewis but I must warn you that thing works for shortened matches and not for evaluating or quantifying performances of players in a match :--D

The group stage matches where important becauce had india lost the close match with england and yuvraj didnt come through vs the west indies we would have been tied with bangladesh on points. Plus their was some moments when minnows had india in some tough situations so I dont think we should ignore player performances in the group stages exspecially considering what happened to india the world cup before.

Who do you think was carting Murali around in the match? The way Dhoni manhandled Murali without taking any risk whatsoever was something to behold. Just check Murali's stats in that game against other batsmen and Dhoni and you will know why India never came under any pressure related to RR.

I was also watching the same :two_thumbs_up: and that very thing instantly captured my attention,he took some 120 odd balls. P.S: Intention is not to undermine anyone's effort, just an observation.

As someone already mentioned, Gambhir was consolidating after quick wickets were lost. Dhoni only accelerated once the innings was already done and we were assured of victory Alos brilliant innings by dhoni but it was still only one match, Gambhir was good throughout

Yes and that's why Gambhir is ranked higher in the MVP list. The point is related to some folks saying Dhoni didn't do much ans simply hogged glory by remaining unbeaten at the end. We are simply saying that to shepherd a chase from 115/3 and take the team to 275 in a WC final is not really a walk in the park especially when Murali and Malinga had to be countered.

Yep i remember almost every one going into panic mode when the Dhoni runout was referred to 3rd umpire with 30-40 runs needed to win.

Muruli was not the bowler he was previously but dhoni record against srilankan bowlers gave me assurance that we would not lose the match.On that pitch first 15 overs were important.
