Steyn is 6'' + not like our umesh 5,8' . the shorter the bowler the more effort is required to generate bounce, and if you are shorter and not pacy you cant have too much hope, can you ? history shows if the bowler is short and does not have the pace, you cant get away, if you are really tall and a little less pace, you can still get away with the bounce.

Umesh is 5'10" and Steyn is just about 6 feet, not above.

Pattrick Cummins was hit for 2 sixes by Unmukt Chand. Is he trundler? Bowlers are being hit for 6s and 4s does not matter how quick one is. It is impossible to not being hit, but for a 16 year old Sayyed looks good and I am not just seeing him. I saw Sandeep, Rush Kalariya as well as Zia ul haq and he did not look any slower than ZIa ul haq in these videos. And I am saying because he is not as lean and thin as Unadkat was, looks a strong guy. Even Unadkat did touch 139K in WC in NZ in 2010.

English have lost 5 out of 9 Tests and have way too many holes to be #1. SA are clearly the much better side. It's not SA who are catching up but England who somehow are clinging to the top spot by their finger-nails and post the 3rd test against SA I expect them to be dethroned from the top spot.

Our London Olympics shotputter O.P Singh karhana is 6'8'' and Discus thrower Vikas Gowda is 6'' 9'. We have a junior volleyball team with an average height of 1.98 ms and that too with most of the players coming from only 7 states in India [4 southern states+ Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana] If SAI and Volleyball federation of India can pick these big boys from our country with less funding and poor resources, why can't BCCI, the richest sports body in India, emulate them. Open some residential fastbowling academies and pick tall n strong kids and train them for 5-6 years with proper diet and modern training methods. Then we will see good tall fast bowlers.

Akhtar was not exactly 6 ft 5 inches. He was quic. Malinga is not tall either. Pace got nothing to do with height. Venky prasad, kuruvilla, srinath, ishant, mohanty we have had our own share of tall bowlers. Bar Srinath and Ishant others cannot be considered pacy.
