Indian U19 pace bowling

How very depressing. Got up early in the morning for today's match, after sleeping for only 3hrs, was getting goose bumps in anticipation of watching the current India U19 play. After seeing the other teams I had this feeling the speed guns are a bit generous, because this is the only U19 world cup where I've seen so many bowlers crossing the 140kmph mark, thought Indians would at least be in the 135kmph range, specially after seeing all west. Indies bowlers cross 130kmph and Beaton crossing 145kmph. As the innings started I saw sandeep's 1st ball and thought this guy didn't change much speed wise, he went through with his over and came rush kalaria. Our friend "Rkt" once said he has a good action and seems to be a decent bowler,I had the expectation of seeing another unadkat who could touch 135kmph, but when the over ended i went into a bit of depression seeing he was merely touching 123kmph. That was a huge agony for me, feeling ashamed and embarrassed, feeling we have e Worst pace bowling attack in the whole of universe, specially comparing with the test plays nations, I remember seen videos of taskin Ahmed from Bangladesh and wouldn't be surprised if he touches 140kmph, England already has 150kmph bowler in Overton, Australia has Paris and Sandhu crossing 140kmph, new Zealand has Duffy who can cross 135kmph, Pakistan have zia ul haq who can touch 145kmph, south Africa will definitely have couple of bowlers crossing 140kmph, Sri Lanka would have bowlers who can touch 135kmph. It's only India who have none touching 130 as average speed. Kalaria is 114 - 124kmphh, sandeep is 124-131. Nothing less than embarrassing to say the least, I have no hopes with passi also , he is in the same mould. I should say I have no hopes from BCCI to get some nice quicks.india might have some quicks but they would never be selected because of the lack of wickets on Indian wickets will never bring them to limelight for selection, and that to me is the saddest part.

I saw most of the 2nd innings, and felt just as depressed watching them bowl. First of all the management got bowling attack all wrong with only one pace bowler on this pitch. And Kalaria at 19, couldn't even muster enough strength to pass 120kmph, ended up bowling only 6 overs on dream wicket for pacers. Sharma looked decent but nothing to write home about. Like I mentioned previously it's just a pathetic scenario from BCCI and state cricket that despite the obvious shortfall in quality fast bowlers at India senior level that there is no directive (or direction or blueprint etc.) to nurture and bring through decent quicks from grassroots to first class competition. And this issue was pretty evident over the last 4-6 years, when we had to rely so much on Zaheer. I am not saying we need a battalion of 150kph, but at least bowlers who bowl at decent pace (135kph plus) with good line and length. Seeing Sandeep and Kalaria charging in at 115-120kph doesn't give much hope for fans. Note: I rather see some raw talent who is capable of generating 140kph plus at youth level, especially at U19 then concentrating too much on the technicalities.

we Indian fans generally whine for fast bowlers but when we get one we'll start cursing him for going for runs and ask him to be dropped and should never be anywhere near the indian side as like our trundlers ends up with a match figure 5 for 15 in every 3rd match. we let a trundler to play more than 100 games to learn the art of picking wkts but they never excel in that but we cant digest a fast bowler taking some time for learning. a team with such fans should never ever get a fast bowler

Our women's team has bowlers who bowl faster than this U-19 side  Is it lack of availabilty or stupid selection? I remember in their U-19 days Yo Mahesh and Abu Nechim used to bowl 135+. Yo Mahesh has since become a 125K bowler.

Stupid quota selection policy. You wonder why likes of aaron, rahul shukla, VPS never picked. Aaron and Shukla both had success at domestic u19 level.

Yes India needed one guy who could bowl 135+ kph and then you would have taken Sandeep Sharma's 125-130 kph om the way. The swing Sharma were getting, had India bowled first today they would have bowled out Windies for under 100 runs. Even praveen Kumar doesn't move The ball that much.

Just seen a bit of Sandeep Sharma' date=' he looked very good.[/quote'] Yes. He is a real prospect, still only 19. He will need a bit more time in FC as he has not impressed in FC yet whatever the matches he has played.

I think the key for him is consistency and accuracy. If you can be accurate and swing the ball both ways, you will be a very tricky prospect. The moment you drop short though or start bowling wide, the swing no longer matters or is effective.

Accuracy is a certain. He is bowling 125-130 in One day. I have seen him in Ranji bowling 115-120K and he was smothered. Bowling 10 overs in 2-3 spells in OD is easy, not so in FC where one has to bowl 20 plus overs. Consistency is good but little more pace is an X-factor. Too much reliance on swing is a limitation like PK has. But if one wants to be a real strike bowler, he should look to likes Styen, Andreson, etc. They do not bowl quick all the time, but they that in their armory and can increase whenever needed that is how a complete test fast bowler should be for me. One trick pony does not cut it. Not like Tait or Akhtar who tried bowl their quickest all the time, but likes of Steyn and Marshall who knew when to curb and when to crank it up.

No one criticizing him. People criticizing the tactics playing 3 spinners and 2 pacers a fast bowlers paradise. WI played 4 pacers. We did not have any back pacer after Sandeep and Kalariya. Kalariya was tight but was not threatening at all. Only Sandeep looked like taking wickets. IF they had Kamal Passi in place of Mishra, they could have posed a bit more challenge or may have even defended. Everyone knew it was a seaming track after what happened yesterday to England. Bowling first was a real advantage.

Well folks I don't have hopes from the pace attack, I must say we have one of the good spinners in this tournament.vthinking witty spinners, but sadly we require pace bowlers to do much of the damage and be supported by spinners in these conditions. Rush kalaria, I wonder how did he get a 4fer and a 5fer against Pakistan ? Just wish he was spanked and beaten by his coaches, when he chose to be a bowler, we wouldn't have been in such agony. He has sucha along run up and he bowls these floaters which resemble the bubbles flying around made from detergent after being blown away. I shouldn't be saying this but just wish he gets injured for the whole tournament, he is. In the team for his bit of batting.

Passi bowled just 4 overs in the last practice match vs Afghans. Maybe he is injured. And Sayyed's replacement Ravikant doesn't look good enough or perhaps isn't rated by the coach.

Same old story as the senior team :haha: In the CB series we were playing 2 pacers and 4 spinners as well :hysterical: Unfortunately you can't play what you don't have
