asterix Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Please merge all Cheeka related topics and lets celebrate at one place, together.. :drink: :aha:
Roshanrocks Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 We have plenty of experienced selectors here on ICF... :peter:
Prakat Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Yes let's get the Mumbai lobby back in control. It served us well in the 70s, 80s and the 90s.. :hahaha: Rohit Sharma for life. :winky: Yes. Now, at last Rohit will get a good run of matches regardless of form.
maniac Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 The 8-0 blot has overshadowed a pretty decent run for Cheeka...Worldcup win, drawing test series in SA,No 1 test team...probably a much better resume than most of the selectors we have had.
Lord Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Yes. Now' date=' at last Rohit will get a good run of matches regardless of form.[/quote'] he gets them anyway:dontknow:
maniac Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Let a pvt.company run the Selection Comitee....Tenvic anyone :giggle:
The Outsider Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Yes let's get the Mumbai lobby back in control. It served us well in the 70s, 80s and the 90s.. :hahaha: Rohit Sharma for life. :winky: Tailunt was being picked by Cheeka and backed by CSK kaptaan. :icflove:
CSK Fanatic Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 My Dream Selection Committee would consist of Dada, Dravid, Srinath, Kumble, and Robin Singh. Dada - He will drop Dhoni, will select himself Dravid - He will make playing tests mandatory for T20 selection Srinath - He just cant stand controversy, abuse, debate. He's too soft a gentleman even though he is one of India's fastest pacer. Kumble - One who is overrated, even though we are made to believe he is underrated. Robin - A match fixer.

maniac Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Has anyone seen the movie Moneyball? We have a country of so many math experts,statistians,etc....why don't we use a similar funda,to pick our teams :dontknow:
CSK Fanatic Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 BTW this thread is blatant racism. Why dont you guys create thread on Yuvi's Tandoori Chicken, Sehwag's Chhole Bhature, Dhoni's Thekua, Sachins' Vada Pao, Patel's Dhokla, Raina's Dum Aloo, Yadav's Sattu.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Has anyone seen the movie Moneyball? We have a country of so many math experts,statistians,etc....why don't we use a similar funda,to pick our teams :dontknow: When we have selectors like Srikkanth who select the likes of Chawla & Harbhajan withot any reason, or pick likes of Yuvraj or Laxman coz they are easy decisions, do you really expect them to make tough left field selections based on stats/numbers alone?
Cricket Tragic Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 The fact is that there will be talk of biased selections or poor decisions no matter who the selector is in India. People who think that getting in certain cricketers will change that are kidding themselves. Remember GRV?
The Outsider Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 People who think that getting in certain cricketers will change that are kidding themselves. Remember GRV? Well said - the problem is much more deep rooted than "Zone" selection, though it does play a part.

But one thing for sure....This is not the worst selection comitee we have ever had by any means
The Outsider Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 But one thing for sure....This is not the worst selection comitee we have ever had by any means From my point of view if not the worst it is right down there. There was nothing to pick in the Indian test XI for half their tenure and now over the last year we're faced with some tough decisions no one is willing to take them. It makes my admiration of Dravid grow stronger.
Ultimate_Game Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 That's true.....maybe it's time that someone tries that atleast at the IPL level.... But one thing for sure....This is not the worst selection comitee we have ever had by any means I am sure you will see such decisions in IPL but the problem is there's not a lot of T20 cricket played outside of IPL for IPL teams to select the new faces. However, you will see IPL franchises trading for bargains from other IPL teams based on the stats/numbers over the previous IPL tourneys.
