When we have selectors like Srikkanth who select the likes of Chawla & Harbhajan withot any reason, or pick likes of Yuvraj or Laxman coz they are easy decisions, do you really expect them to make tough left field selections based on stats/numbers alone?

The fact is that there will be talk of biased selections or poor decisions no matter who the selector is in India. People who think that getting in certain cricketers will change that are kidding themselves. Remember GRV?

Well said - the problem is much more deep rooted than "Zone" selection, though it does play a part.

From my point of view if not the worst it is right down there. There was nothing to pick in the Indian test XI for half their tenure and now over the last year we're faced with some tough decisions no one is willing to take them. It makes my admiration of Dravid grow stronger.

That's true.....maybe it's time that someone tries that atleast at the IPL level.... But one thing for sure....This is not the worst selection comitee we have ever had by any means

I am sure you will see such decisions in IPL but the problem is there's not a lot of T20 cricket played outside of IPL for IPL teams to select the new faces. However, you will see IPL franchises trading for bargains from other IPL teams based on the stats/numbers over the previous IPL tourneys.
