Selectors didn't communicate with him before selecting the team. So he was training for the full season. But then they kind of indicated that this can be his last series. That might have forced Laxman to think rather leave now than later as there is no point of farewell series.

Though he is spot on about Shrikant lack of communication,which was visble last year as well during Dravid's ODI-T20 retirement.His non-sensical decision making coupled with the moronnic behaviour most of the times during announcement of team selections,makes him stand out as one of the worst selector in recent years.

How can Dhoni support somebody for/during 0-8 debacle when he himself is main culprit? Dhoni's should have been first head to roll after that. Don't know what selectors are waiting for? Would they remove Dhoni, only when India lose a series at home?
