Prasanth Chopra:-Good stroke maker but has to tighten up his game if he has to open in the longer form. Unmukt Chand:-We all know about exceptional talent, has clearly underperformed in this tournament though. Baba Aparajith:-The allrounder we're looking for.......top-order batsman, very good off-spinner & an excellent fielder. Can develope into a genuine all-rounder. Vijay Zol:-Well suited for longer formats. Smit Patel:-Acrobatic & neat wicket-keeper & a pretty good batsman. Harmeet Singh:-I would rate him the best spinner in India right now. That'll raise quite a few eyebrows but that's a fact. He's decent with the bat too. Indian seamers like Ravikanth,Passi & Sandip are ok but not anything special. If Ravikanth gets 6-7 ks quicker in his 20's then he can be handy. We've Umesh,Aaron, Awana,Shami & few others in the queue so it'll be tough for them. What we need is good wicket-taking spinners & Harmeet & Aparajith may be the answer.

I think Chopra has a tighter game than Unmukt, has less attacking shots than Unmukt and has played long innings in difficult conditions in Australia at Tony Ireland Stadium. He too me looked technically better than Unmukt and can be developed as opener for test.

Ravikant Singh has been impressive. Good strong action, bowls outswingers, decent pace for an 18 year old goes to mid 130s and has bowled good lines more often than not. He will only get quicker and he looks like an 18-19 year old. I like his bowling action the most among the 4 pacers we have in this team. Harmeet is an excellent left armer already.

I like Sandeep Sharma among the Indian pacers. Hes by far the best athlete and considering the importance of fitness for pace bowling, Sharma should have the best chance to make an impact. I wouldn't be surprised if he gains another 10ks in pace over the next couple of years. Ravikant is just a mirror image of rp singh - looks malnourished and if and when he does gain some weight, it'll be all in the wrong areas. Other than him, obviously Harmeet has been the most impressive and should find place in senior squad soon enough. Baba has a complete game, so he'll always come in handy in any format. Chand is a future opener for India - no fv cking doubt about that. Zol and Chopra have some way to go before they can be considered in the mix for seniors.

Ravikant is the fastest of them all and has most wickets among them. RP Singh was slower than him at U19 level, saw him bowling 125K on his ODI debut in Zim, if I remember. Ravikant has the best and a strong action among these guys. Thing is we cannot already say who is going make it for national team. They will all have to play FC first for that.

if you mean the longer version , then only Harmeet . Should keep an evye on Ravikant though. My opinion about Unmukt hasnt changed . He has two things going for him , very good temperament & ability hit some freakish strokes . He will do gret in ODI's , but has genuine flaws in his technique which will be exposed in tests ..but there is always hope that he can be the next shewag . Vijay Zol , very disappointing ..cross batted & far from intl material.

baba, zol and chand are definately for the future. but so far in the tourney our bowling attack has won us matches. sandeep and ravikant are good but unless they add pace they are going nowhere. chopra is just rubbish. 50 strike rate on 230-250 pitch?. thank god somebody bowled 110 kmph dollies to him so he scored some run. this sorta slow crap is only acceptable for paki batsmen not for indian.

Based on pure skill I will rate Sandeep Singh well ahead of the other 3 kids in the pacers dept (if you can call it that lol). Additionally, none of the 4 pacers have shown anything exceptional in terms of pace (I mean if kiwi, aussie, pom, winidies, and paki u19 kids can touch 140 or bowl consistently in the upper 130's then our group of young trundlers are nowhere near in terms of development). The 2 spinners have some potential (Harmeet more so than baba). I like Harmeet's attitude (it just looks like he belongs to the big stage) Batting has been very very disappointing overall..... No stand outs. It has been the collective effort of the bowlers and fielders that has gotten us to the Finals. Hopefully they can throw up 1 more exceptional performance against the aussies. Most impressive batting line-up was that of the Saffers and they choked in the SF. After that, I would rate the Aussie batting line-up as fairly decent as well.

Harmeet is the closest to the intl level and after a couple of A tours can be fast tracked to the national team. Chand has to work on tightening his game - quick 20s & 30s aren't going to cut it. Chopra & Aparajith have potential, especially Chopra who can be groomed to be an opener in Tests but he needs to learn how to rotate the strike. I had heard a lot about Zol but whenever I have watched him he has struggled big time.

Zol, Harmeet for Test maybe Unmukt as well if he cuts out stupidity Baba, Unmukt for ODI Fast bowlers need to show more in FC cricket before we can make a judgement on them

Batsman like Chopra would never get chance in an international side. He doesn't look like taking single at any moment. Chand is talented, but would find it difficult as India FC will have many good (or probably better) performers than him. He would need to score big runs and not get out after flashy good start. Baba - He can be very useful if he continues to improve his game. India rarely gets good all-rounders. He won't find it very difficult to get into the team if he performs in FC cricket. Harmeet - Good spinners are now rare in Indian cricket. He is a very good prospect. Although Ravikanth and Passi are not fast, they are skilled. It was good to see u19 pacers able to swing the ball and maintain good line and length.

I think Chopra has done well. He may be slow but he is seeing the new ball in these conditions. Few quick wickers up front and match is over for you. He has 3 50s in the tourny already and he plays some delightful off side shots. He is not yet finished article but he has shown that he has the zeal to survive in the these conditions.

From the WC winning squad of 2000, only three players Yuvraj, Kaif and Sodhi made it to the national side and none of them had adequate credentials for a long term test future. In comparison, from the same tournament Aussies found Cowan, Marsh, Mitchell Jhonson, Shane Watson and Hauritz. From the 2008 WC winning squad, so far only Kohli has grabbed his chances. Jaddu and Saurabh Tiwary have also gone onto play for us but don't look like test prospects. Too early to make any calls. I hope none of them is rushed into the national side. let them play FC cricket for a couple of seasons before drafting into the A team and subsequently the national side.

Zol' date=' Baba, Harmeet and Smit Patel are good enough for ODIs.[/quote'] No. They are not yet. They have to do well in domestic cricket first.

There is a long list of players who played for India U19 and made it to the team. Sehwag, Bhajji, Yuvraj, Kaif, Sodhi, Pathan, Parthiv, Dinesh Karthik, Raina, Dhawan, VRV, RP, Chawla, Rohit, Pujara, Rahane played for India U19 but could not play in U19 WC, Mukund, Ishant, Uthappa, Venugopal Rao, Ajay Ratra, Jadeja, Amit Bhadnari, LR Shukla. They all played for India but problem is we brought some of them too early in the national squad and could not let them develop their game enough.
