You won't see anything from now on since ball tampering isn't as easy with cameras all over the place. Every Pak bowling great from Imran to Akhtar needed help from ball tampering and everyone agreed in one way or another they did tamper with the ball. Since mid 2000s with more scrutiny on the bowlers and umpires monitoring the ball a lot more, ball tampering is out of the question they are beginning to be found out as it was as much about tampering as it was about skill.

^ cameras? so what? we have 'tigers' like Afridi :D
You do but he can only dance on the pitch not tamper with the ball :--D I have no doubts that if we were in 90s Gul would have been one of the greats with ball tampering seldom being caught.

Breaking News: Cameras/live coverage started in mid 2000s. Whatever you saw before that was Nazar ka dhoka.
There you go... http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=10624473
Of course a New Zealand team I was in performed a very famous bit of ball tampering in Pakistan, retribution for what the home team had been doing. Chris Pringle was the major beneficiary in that 1990 test in Faisalabad, taking 11 wickets after we went to work with a bottle top. We had practised roughing the ball up with the bottle top in the nets before the test and I even managed to get some devastating late swing on the ball. Pakistan were the masters of ball tampering, and got away with it for 15 or 20 years because no one really knew what was going on. Normally the ball swings towards the rough side, and mainly when the ball is new or fairly new. By working on the ball, reverse swing - towards the shiny side - can be achieved in stages of the game when it would be difficult to get any swing at all. You also get excellent late swing via the reverse method. The first thing to do is get rid of the varnish and then get moisture into the rough side, altering the balance of the ball. The Pakistanis found a method of doing this with their fingers, and could do it in a way that was not obvious. Clearly, with reverse swing still being apart of test cricket, minor doctoring of the ball is still going on. I don't believe it is possible to get reverse swing without some illegal work on the ball. But it is being done in a way that is actually good for the game, giving the bowlers more chance when batsmen could absolutely dominate. By using an over-the-top method such as employing a bottle top, you get sudden and exaggerated swing.
Google "Chris Pringle ball tampering" and you will find loads more articles as well. Plus Imran & Akhtar mentioned in their books they tampered with the ball. At the end of the day if Pringle could become amazing after tampering the ball it says it all. I will be extremely surprised if Pakis unearth another "world class" bowler as scrutiny on bowlers wasn't as much earlier as it is now.

At least we succeeded at it UG unlike your superstars who tried it and failed miserably on that Mike Dennis tour.
that wasn't ball tampering.:finger: and we did excellent reverse swing in 2008 series against oz which we won 2-0.

That reverse swing by Zaheer must have been Halal.

If you consider Tendulkar connoiseur of swing bowling then sure :giggle: Between we can all see why Paki performance has gone down in 2000s whereas Indians have been fine since the advent of neutral umpires and more monitoring of the ball. I wonder why that is so :hmmm:

So Ind having their best batting line up in history and Pakistan losing two ATG bowlers had nothing to do with their respective results? As for neutral umpires we use to beat daylight of you in 80s and 90s with two home umpires in your own backyard. They should have checked the ball properly I guess.

Absolutely and as for Pakis beating the daylight out of us in 90s I do remember the Sahara series in 90s and guess what the overall score was in that series: 8-7 to Pakistan, hardly the living daylights sort of result. And if you factor in the fact that for one of the Sahara series India sent its best players to Commonwealth games (Tendulkar, Kumble etc. were part of the commonwealth team instead of making the Sahara series in the 3rd series), that says it all :haha: In the first two editions of the series when Indians had their full team, India led the series 6-4 and pakis did have Wasim, Waqar, Anwar, Sohail, Inzi, Saqlain, Afridi etc. in that series :haha: When India sent its top players to Commonwealth games instead the 3rd year Pakis were able to win 4-1 else we all know they woul have struggled as usual. This was pretty consistent with the 3 WC defeats by Indians as well in 90s :giggle:

We had record of something like 16-5 in Ind 84-2005. Won the test series in 87. Won two tests in 99 losing one. Sahara cup was not played in Ind.

In 90s Sahara series was the only cricket I remember between the two sides consisting of 3 4 match series. So when you say Pakis kicked the "living daylights" out of India in 90s Sahara series is the first one to go to coz we didn't really have any bi-lateral series. As I have shown the Sahara series was evenly split and could have gone India's way if not for Commonwealth fiasco. Here's where you can read about it in more detail... http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/comedy-of-errors--cricket-at-the-1998-commonwealth-games/1/103765.html As for The odi record it's unfortunate that the games India did dominate in Pakistan were either "abandoned" or "forfeited by India" to make the Paki stats look much better what they really were. That's the reason why Pakis may have the overall stats on their side but whenever any high profile match was played between the two sides - World Championship final in 1985 or the World Cups across the years - India emerged winners more often thannot coz abandonment, India forfeiting etc. couldn't come to Pakis' recue :giggle:
