i blame the team management for such pathetic performance. dale steyn was a decent player, JP isnt that bad either. but white, dan christian and harris are ordinary players imo...and sanga was horribly off-form not to mention that their decision to sell KP was pathetic while they failed to bid for a quality indian player.

Poor post from you. DC were the most unluckiest team, they lost 7-8 matches in the last over. (Overall, 6-8 which really they didn't deserve to lose) And one more thing, you don't need "famous" or "world-class" players to make an effective team. A team can do well with any players as long it understands planning and execution. RR is a good example.

It shows that they didnt have the mentality to go to end. the problem with DC is that they dont have a good base to begin with. Their base was steyn, sanga, white, christian. the locals where all ordinary players. Now compare with KKR: Tiwary, gambhir, kallis, narine. While even top players like lee, tendo, morgan, shakib, where struggling to get enough matches. CSK had quality indian and foreign players in dhoni, raina, ashwin, albie, bravo, bolliinger. DD, a team with a base full of the world's most fierecest batsmen like warner, KP, sehwag, morkel. And you talked about RR, they had rahane and dravid both established players. And their foreigners? here they are : Watson brad hodge, owais shah. The issue with DC is that they failed to invest on established players unlike the first few seasons. the team that won IPL 2 consisted of Symonds, gibbs, gilchrist, rohit sharma, dwayne smith. The same issue was with pune, yuvi's absence hurt them a lot this season but even still they failed to make a good base. their base was players like ganguly and uthappa...and none of their international stars where impact players with the exceptions of samuels who however, was off-form during the IPL

Just to let you know..Dhawan (local/domestic) player was their highest run scorer by miles. And RR lacks bowling depth, their batting is decent.

The owners of the cash-strapped Deccan Chargers have sold the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise to a real estate company for an undisclosed sum. Deccan Chronicle Holdings, who paid $107 million for the franchise in 2008, informed the Indian stock exchanges on Friday of their decision to sell the team to Kamla Landmarc, a Mumbai-based real estate company. Last month, the owners had invited bids for the franchise after being granted approval by the Indian cricket board (BCCI) but rejected the sole offer of nine billion rupees ($162.4 million) for the 2009 IPL champions. The BCCI later terminated the franchise for various defaults, including failure to pay overdue player fees, but the owners immediately issued a legal challenge against the expulsion, a case which is still ongoing. Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara captained the team in the 2012 edition of the lucrative IPL, heading a team which also included South Africa paceman Dale Steyn but failed to qualify for the playoffs. Last year, the BCCI terminated the contract of the Kochi franchise for defaulting on payments while DLF, India's largest real estate firm, terminated the title sponsorship of the league in August ending a five-year association.

The Deccan Chargers IPL franchise has ceased to exist with its owners failing to produce, by the Friday evening deadline, a Rs 100-crore ($19 million) bank guarantee before the Bombay High Court that had been set as the condition for the team's survival in the IPL. This effectively means that the BCCI's termination of the Chargers stands and it is free now to float a tender and invite bidders for the new franchise. This brings the curtains down on Chargers' rollercoaster existence in the IPL, which they won in 2009 after finishing last the previous season. Since then, though, their performances have been patchy - they finished fourth, seventh and eighth in the last three seasons. The last few months have been overshadowed by the owners' financial problems, which had led to the attempted sale of the franchise and finally its dissolution. It is understood that DCHL sought a three-day extension of the Friday 5 pm deadline to furnish the guarantee but the court turned it down. DCHL's lawyers are also believed to have told the court that it was trying to "negotiate" selling the franchise to a private bidder. The BCCI had terminated Chargers' IPL contract on September 14 after what it called a "sudden change of stance by the franchise" regarding its commitments and the board's belief that any further extension of time to the franchise owners would "seriously prejudice the interests of the players."
