JourneyMan
The one thing that worries me about Kohli being the only in-form player at the moment is a potential repeat of the Tendulkar effect, where it's pretty much down to one batsman to perform. If the batsman is out early, then everyone else just crumbles. Link to comment

This pitch was no great shakes. It was difficult to score off but not difficult to stay on. Even the new guy Root with no experience managed to bat an entire day. Lets reserve our judgement. King Tendulkar
Well he is the highest run scorer in world cricket for 2012. Yes I know that inlcudes odi runs but still an amazing achievment. He has ton in oz already in tests. Plus 2 tons in england albeit in odis. It shows his ability to play on overseas pitches and play bounce and moving ball. He will be rated best in world one day, not as soon as OP thinks but certainly in next 3 or 4 years Link to comment
Silva
If he doesn't succeed in test cricket it definitively won't be because of a lack of effort. Link to comment
wobblydoggy
He will be legend Lets see how he does in the next few years in a weaker team than he has enjoyed up till now Link to comment

Team will only get better now. So ironically what you say is opposite, its less see how it does in team stronger then what he has enjoyed up till now Link to comment

I do not think his game is ready for that like say, cooks is. Bell I would say the same of and he has been around longer Link to comment

express bowling
Kohli can play the bouncing ball, the moving ball, the spinning ball and has won a lot of odi s for India playing under pressure. He has all the ingredients of becoming a top notch match winner for India. Whether he becomes a statistician's delight and plays for 20+ years is immaterial. Link to comment
