If you are talking of ODIs he is already one of the best batsman in the world. And India's ODI team has not had Dravid, Laxman etc. for years so really can't understand what relevance those 4 years in ODIs have?

The pitch at ranchi was more like a foreign pitch. Decent pace, ball carrying and coming on. He thrived. Correct. He's far from being a very good test batsman. As Boycott pointed out, Kohli's talented but he still does not know the art of building a test inning.
