None of the match winners Ganguly had made debut under him. It is not just the win i am talking about. I am talking about style of captainy. From strategy to man management he carried this unwarranted arrogance. If you believe that helped Indian players perform better you are free to believe that. But in my view he was largely selfish . Under Ganguly laxman batted at no.6 30 times despite Laxman being far better batsman than ganguly.

Also IIRC it was ganguly Ganguly dropped Laxman to accomodate Yuvraj intest cricket.

Sachin can't be dropped as he played well in the first match. Rather than changing everyone's position, he changed one batsman's position in just one innings. how much harm that caused to Indian Cricket ? same set of people on ihateganguly.com would've wrote he hide himself at no 6 in Kolkata test if he would've dropped himself. VVS is a better batsman now, at that time he went through several lean patches. Also how he changed Sehwag's batting order ?

Fact is Ganguly blew his chance of winning a test series in OZ in 2004 due to his ultra defensive captaincy in Sydney test. He could have easily declared 10-15 overs to spare on 4th day.

If laxman was going through lean patch, Ganguly was going through horrible patch where he simply was not qualified to stay in the side as a player let alone captain.
