Vikram Rathour was Punjab's coach and a member of the support staff for KXIP...looks like there is a new opening for a coach for Punjab. With quite a young Punjab team, a good catch would be a must to guide them through.

It's really unfortunate the way Amarnath has been asked to leave. It also raises suspicions about the plan which is in place to protect Dhoni's captaincy' date= at any cost and of which Dhoni could very well be a part of. Speculation.

Following India's back to back Test series losses to England and Australia, Ganguly had openly criticised the selection committee. But it's not a contractual agreement." Regarding Mohinder Amarnath's ouster from the selection panel, Ganguly termed it as unfortunate. "A lot of things happen. You just got to deal with it. Having replaced Sunil Gavaskar as BCCI's technical committee head last year, Ganguly has been donning different roles - playing for state side Bengal and IPL franchise Pune Warriors, doing commentary besides handling the Board's job. The Ganguly-led committee had made some bold decisions, bringing about several changes in the domestic structure that included doing away with the Elite and Plate divisions. Even the Ranji Trophy points system was changed, while the Challengers tournament was restructured. It was a decision, taken in the aftermath of India's 0-8 drubbing overseas, to lay emphasis on away performance, Ganguly had said. "The basic emphasis is to see that Indian cricket does well overseas. That is going to be the biggest emphasis for whoever is concerned with Indian cricket. "The loss of eight Tests in a row has not been very good. So whatever amendments we make is to make sure we start playing well overseas. India will always play well at home," Ganguly had said as technical committee chairman earlier.

Not just that, even officials of the Enforcement Directorate who are investigating alleged irregularities in IPL-II (which was held in South Africa) apparently lobbied with the BCCI on behalf of this former cricketer. One of the players who made the phone calls is an explosive batsman, while another is a handy middle-order player. The person they were lobbying for had played for India in one-day internationals, though not Tests. However, the lobbying backfired as the furious board members made sure the former player was not considered for the post. Instead, former Uttar Pradesh player and coach Rajinder Singh Hans was named the selector from Central Zone. Hans was one of the candidates nominated by Central Zone before the BCCI annual general meeting last Thursday, which chose the new five-man team of selectors, headed by Sandeep Patil. The cricket board officials were stunned when some current Team India stars lobbied to have a former India player appointed selector. They pointed out that there was a clear conflict of interest in players trying to influence the choice of men who would subsequently decide on their fates. "Students can't be examiners," one of the board members remarked in the meeting. Officials said such an incident was unprecedented. However, with each selector now getting a package of Rs 60 lakh per year (Rs 70 lakh for the chairman), the post of a selector has suddenly become much sought after. Interestingly, there was already controversy shrouding the choosing of the new selection panel. Mohinder Amarnath, who was spoken of as being in contention to be the next chairman of selectors, was abruptly removed from the panel itself. The board rejected the candidates suggested by East and West Zones. It could be Amay Khurasia. - 21 to be precise. Never thought I would be that much off the mark. Didn't think enough before putting that number :((

I think it also answers why Dhoni wants certain players out. I dont think it is Raina.
