BeautifulGame Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 srini trying to pick and choose umpires? :P Based on Modi rants :hysterical:
BeautifulGame Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Doesn't matter what the cause of the bias - it just leaves the entire system defunct when someone who does not even get selected for TN and CSK regularly makes the India emerging players side. Well it matters if u are making a generalized allegation.Just because the selector is biased towards his son doesnt mean every CSK selection can be automatically biased. Based on that logic every central zone selection is biased because Saxena was selected? Or Every south sone selection was biased when Arjun Yadav was selected?
Old guy Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Based on Modi rants :hysterical: we all know its true dont act like fan boy and disagree :obeyme:

As I said I am not talking about a specific CSK bias but the general defunct selection committee the Indian team had over the last 4 years. Your examples only exemplify my point. Tell me in which half sane system can the chief selector select his good for nothing son and get away with it. In which half sane system can the selection be justified by a statement from the committee that they did not know which format they were selecting the team for - as if that good for nothing son is good in a format higher than Marina Beach cricket. In any half sane system the entire committee would have been fired. Arjun Yadav is another example of the corruption rooted deep in the system. Jalaj Saxena is another example of the bias that paid selectors were supposed to get rid of. Amarnath has always been a very open and straightforward personality. While certain people might try to shift the blame to Amarnath, given Amarnath's past and the selection committee and BCCI's corruption I would give the benefit of the doubt to Amarnath any day.

As for BCCI it is the best run sporting body in India.Miles ahead of anyother sporting body in India and we have achieved more success in cricket under BCCI administration than any other sport in India.SO yep i would give BCCI benifit of doubt over any individual until facts are out.

The success of BCCI has little to do with good administration. It has mainly to do with India's WC win in '83 and the vacuum of popular sports. Tell me one well run organization which would not fire the selection committee for what they've done over the past 4 years? I am not going earlier because BCCI has become a superpower after IPL.

Is it appropriate to keep other sporting bodies in India as a benchmark for the BCCI?

Also cricket is the only sport in India where u get handsome salaries even in domestic cricket.Gives u job security as an youngster and pension after retirement. And they also created IPL.We also have best age group structured cricket of any country. Not sure about it.We just won the world cup in 2011 so dont think any sporting body would have sacked too much earlier. Also BCCI avoids hasty decisions more often than not. They didnt sack Dravid or selection committee after the 2007 world cup either which was the worst moment in Indian cricket in recent memory. And it turned out a very good decision so they probably followed the similar logic.

Exactly my point - we would have got nothing but for that win. Dalmiya was very aggressive to put the subcontinent view through, but I am talking about the catalyst. Anyone could have selected the WC winning team of 2011. If you don't believe me look up at the threads before the 2011 WC team selection and you will notice that most people got 12-13 out of 15 and the remaining 2-3 were peripherals. They didnt sack Dravid or selection committee after the 2007 world cup either which was the worst moment in Indian cricket in recent memory. And it turned out a very good decision so they probably followed the similar logic. Huh? Dravid, in my opinion has been India's best on field captain. Why would anyone sack him? Even after the WC failure Dravid led India to a series win in England - something we might not see for years. Not saying Dravid was the major reason for it. Just a few months before Dravid had led the team to a series win in WI on an absolute brutal pitch. Does it make any sense to sack him due to correlation?

Not true. There was a huge clamour to not select Yuvi for the ODI world cup in both media and among fans due to his poor form.So selectors deserve credit for that.U cant just criticize them for them poor decision and not give credit when they make good decisions. I agree Dravid has been our best test captain ever in terms of on field captaincy. But i am talking about knee jerk reactions from BCCI.ALmost everyone wanted Dravid sacked as captain after the 2007 wc disaster.Media was after him and Sachin (wanting him to retire) full throttle and fans were even protesting in the streets then. Yet BCCI didnt go for the easy route and sack Dravid or selectors.Even they took plenty of stick for those decisions wheich turned out very good in the end
The Outsider Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 But its BCCI who grasped the opportunity. Yeah, but what was the catalyst? Was there an opportunity before '83? 30 years later we still suck as a cricketing nation barring individual brilliance which was true 30 years earlier as well. Why aren't we even consistently in the top 3? Dont agree. So you think a body which overlooks nepotism and corruption is an instance of exemplary administration? Not true. There was a huge clamour to not select Yuvi for the ODI world cup in both media and among fans due to his poor form.So selectors deserve credit for that.U cant just criticize them for them poor decision and not give credit when they make good decisions. BS. Look up the hypothetical teams on ICF from before the WC - vast majority had Yuvraj in them. Source? Yet BCCI didnt go for the easy route and sack Dravid or selectors.Even they took plenty of stick for those decisions wheich turned out very good in the end This is not about BCCI reacting to the media or not - it's about rational decisions. Keeping Dravid as captain was a rational decision.
MCcricket Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Plain and simple there is a strong lobby within the BCCI organisation which runs from the bcci and players, state association, Srini , Dhoni, Cheeka and their camp and that is dangerous, specially what u see is one man wielding power and he is not even a player, very bad for Indian cricket, Amarnath should have been the chief selector and Dhoni should no longer be the captain, players from a certain camp not only CSK players who are not deserving , Mithun, Aravind, Aniruddh,Mukund, most prominently the best players are not getting a chance to play while the mediocre players belonging to a certain camp are getting their way.
vvvslaxman Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Why did he gift Afridi's bat :hmmm: what does it matter to BCCI
MCcricket Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Why did he gift Afridi's bat :hmmm: what does it matter to BCCI LOL I thought you were a cricket fan , LALA Amarnath :asleep:
