Indian Cricket the way forward to success

Since India's loss in England and Australia and the ongoing down spiral looks like the good work done by Kirsten , Ganguly and the other big names of Indian cricket has been on decline, mainly because of the Outgoing selectors and Dhoni, India was lucky to have good set of selectors and captains who had a better vision and plan and that brought the success for the team which was wrong fully attributed to Dhoni and Cheeka and Co. Selectors need to first talk to the seniors and the players who play in all formats to chart their plans for the season ahead and pick and choose senior pros for certain formats only, also sufficiently rest other players who play all formats. Different teams and captains for all three formats and this is where the selectors are getting it wrong, player fatigue will be down, less injury and more driven players, also ability to choose right players for right format and this will give more players a chance to prove their mettle and will raise our cricket standard, also competition for places. This policy will also give players to play domestic and county a bit more and will benefit bowlers who we are trying to groom for test's. Our goal should be the world cup in Australia and NZ, ALSO THE OVERSEAS TOURS IN 2014, selectors should look at players who will able to perform on those tracks and bowlers who can use those conditions, will Sachin, Zaheer, Dhoni be in the team? Selectors have been recycling the same tried and trusted failures and also choosing the players to play wrong formats, Parthiv in ODI'S,PK AND VK IN TEST, ROHIT SHOULD BE IN THE TEST SQUAD AS SHOULD RAHANE. Picking purely players on domestic performance is a stupid thing as even an idiot can do that, a selectors job is to weed out the mediocre and find the players with potential and talent as domestic cricket also is an ideal ground for mediocre players and trundlers to thrive on based on the flat tracks and fast bowlers breaking down and trundlers and mediocre batters could have better stats, case in point Badrinath, Mukund, PK, VK, Dinda. Selectors should pick a pool of players for future honors just based on the potential and talent , for batters that will mean, weeding out flat track bullies for bowlers weeding out trundlers, for India to be a force in world cricket we need a bigger pool of players to choose from who are ripe and ready for international cricket and for bowlers who have pace and need proper mentoring and guidance also to chart the path ahead for these talented players,Shami Ahmed, Manish Pandey, Unmukt Chand, Anwar Khan, Abu Nechim should be among these batch of players. Injured international and domestic players should be monitored and especially bowlers like Tyagi, Suyal who have potential should be looked after, players dropped from the team or squads should be told exactly what is expected from them and what they could do and improve to get back into the side. Last and not the least, domestic cricket is where it all begins, this should be a nursery for budding talent and should be an excellent feeder for future talent, also talent scouting and domestic structure, tracks, selections should improve, local state associations should be held accountable, Why is there no state association for Bihar that is recognized by BCCI, why doesn't Bisla , Kamran Khan have a team to play domestic cricket?

Very smart. You mention Ganguly but no Wright. You mention Kirsten was responsible for the good things while Dhoni for the regressing. No mention of Dravid, who actually handled fast bowlers better than everyone else and won a few test series outside India and also led us to this superb chasers that we are now.

The core group of players who have done great for India , Harbhajan, Zaheer, Sreesanth on away tours, Yuvraj, Sehwag, and many more players with potential were given chance and persisted with during that time by the team management.

I like Chappel. Though there were controversies but they had to considering Chappel's way our culture which is dominated by stars and reputations. Chappel wanted to make a team, and create players. His ways be debatable but cannot blame his intentions. Even in ODIs, our transition started under Chappel. Kirsten did not do anything to build a team for the future. He just stretched the transition, kept the environment of dressing room right, and got benefited by the form our players were in. There are always two ways of every aspect.

I have said this before as well. Chappell did things which were right for us maybe the methods were not. And that's what I have said to the OP. It can never be the case that it's Ganguly's team that dravid and dhoni enjoyed the fruits. That's plain BS for me. It's a team game and everybody contributes to the success and failures. BTW, we finally agreed to one thing didn't we.:two_thumbs_up:

:hysterical::hysterical: Sorry, not laughing at your good article, but about how age makes you a cynic. When I read the title of the thread, I was immediately reminded of this 3 part series done by Chandan way back in 2007-2008: http://www.indiancricketfans.com/showthread.php?t=5864 We can keep on writing eloquently and with grace, nothing will happen.
lol THAT ARTICLE IS WAY BETTER THEN MINE, it is simple for people who follow Indian cricket and care, like someone who is loosing a brother a friend to addiction or some one loosing his way that you know of, it is very easy to see what they need to do to get back to their best, good things happen in Indian cricket by accident and depend on the stars when they are aligned and people like Wright, Ganguly, selectors who are smart come together, not because of planning, BCCI, infrastructure or domestic cricket lol.

Chapell did good for us compared to Kirsten?
Chappel was bad for the Indian team and we did really bad under him, but he was good for the Raina's and younger lot who he thought had talent, I think that is what the posters mean and I kinda agree to that.

I have been kind enough to overlook the 4 ODI games that we lost to Australia and Sri Lanka. Also, I have consciously overlooked the team's performance against weak teams like Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

LOL - these are hilarious arguments. Do you know the player who suggested him to take his batting seriously and also suggested Pathan to come at No.3 or open the batting?

Why do those countries only matter ? Then we might as well give up playing in India. Ridiculous.
As a team you wanna test yourself against the better cricket playing nations which are at this point, Australia, England, SA, that is why the countries matter, who cares if we play Bangladesh and beat them after scoring 700 or match is drawn with only two innings played between the two teams.

That particular poster is following this train of thought which seems to be around these days that India do well at home, so it's no big deal even if they win. But going by that logic, Eng and Aus won against India in their home too. So why is that given so much importance? Yes,we should do well overseas too but dont try to undermine the importance of winning at home. We are still playing international quality batsmen and if they lose, they get a lot of flack for that.

Pathan's bowling was not affected because of his bowling , which he himself has stated many times, it was loss of form due to fitness, he tried too many things and changed his action, run up and did not have enough time to remedy it,only when he got a long enough break from injury and cricket did he work on it and find form, if you are an all rounder you can do well in one dept and that will help the other , Flintoff, kallis always thrived based on their allround skills and it is only the fitness which is the bug bear not the added batting responsibility. Bowlers loosing form is very common and happens to almost every Indian bowler, Zaheer went to the county circuit, Srinath wasted alot many years before he became decent, Indian bowlers are not ready for international rigours physically and mentally also not taken care of that well and guided, also add Sreesanth , rp , vrv, tyagi, gony, pankaj singh, mithun and soo many others to that list, did their batting effect their bowling .
