No. What Ann Coulter said is indefensible. But it reminded me of the President's derision of the Special Olympians. I am surprised that none of you all found the President's comments offensive. I must be blind, but the refusal of this board's liberals to accept that President Obama could do anything wrong - except when they feel he didn't go far left enough - is frankly, mind-blowing. Cox, 21, dropped her head on the table and, after a brief silence, said the news made her sad. Thompson tried to console her daughter, telling her sometimes people do disappointing things. But as a mother and special education teacher, Thompson said, internally she was crushed by the president's insensitivity. She knows how destructive such stereotypes can be, and it infuriated her that an organization dedicated to empowering millions of people with developmental disabilities would be reduced to a late-night punch line. At the same time OBama does not have the history of vitriol such as Ann that he cant be given the benefit of doubt, would you agree with that?

Its the classic "But Ma, he started it". Obama's comment was inapproptiate given that he is president and he promptly apologized for it. But much water has flown under the bridge and Obama is hardly known for making such gaffes unlike a certain predecessor of his. Ann Coulter is a completely different case. She has a history of provoking outrage by making outlandish comments. Unlike others on the right, she isnt stupid to be unaware of the backlash her comments will cause, in fact she knows exactly how much she can get away with while still staying in the news and playing to her redneck audience. She once told a muslim college student to take a camel when questioned about her remarks that Muslims shouldnt be allowed to fly and should use flying carpets.
