Obama said on radio last week that JC would have power that night which was a Thursday. Didn't happen. I called PSEG on friday and they said power would be restored in my area on Friday night, that didn't happen. Now they are saying it will be restored by november 9th which is still 4 days away.

I guess some are living it out in the cold homes, eating out, taking showers in the gym and using 4-5 blankets to sleep. A few rich have gone to hotels/motels.

It will be a pity if there are post hurricane casualties due to unavailability of essentials.

Power is back in their homes now, so there is enough space for laaloo to crash at my place if he wants. BTW, if there is someone from Central Jersey there is a Gulf cash only gas station at the intersection of Route 1 and 130 which has only a 20-30 minute queue. I got both my cars filled from there.

It will be a pity if there are post hurricane casualties due to unavailability of essentials. Yes, I have power in my house, so was able to host them. I had stocked a refrigerator full before the storm , plus I think grocery stores were open in most places other than a few which were hardly hit (hoboken, Jersey city, NYC). Gas lines are the main problem. I spent 45 min yesterday, but some have spent 1-2 hours in line in my area. Most casualties have been of people hit by falling trees.

Thanks for the offer. But I've been managing it well plus going to India in 10 days so I've been pretty calm during all this. I still have gas and water at my house so I'm good. I have actually managed to get some work done during all this. Wake up early, go to a friends place to charge everything, get some studying done, come back home eat, and then sleep early.

But it is not a good idea to stock up (mostly) with items which require refrigeration, for obvious reasons. daal,chawal types dry items, aur khaaney, peeney aur dhoney ke liye paani ho., aur thodi daaroo ho..then its best.
