don_corleone840 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 on papers i dont think indian batting has looked soo vulnerable in last 15 years.selectors had to pick yuvraj out of desperation due to lack of exp in middle order.I think india will be more dependent on ashwin and ojha.If they fail, i dont see india winning series
The Realist Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 On paper it does not look too bad but on current performance half the team is made up of passengers. Cannot expect to win a series if only 2-3 players are performing.
Tendulkar_Bhai Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I agree on paper it is solid, what is so bad with Sehwag/Gambhir/Pujara/SRT/Dhoni/Rahane/UV. But we know the kind of form they are in and England pacers like Finn will do a good job regardless of the pitch. Just need hope the pitches are turning and the Ashwin/Ojha partnership in tests continues.
Executioner Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I think the indian team in 2011 WC was without doubt the best india has fielded in their history. The batting order was like this: Gambhir sehwag tendulkar kohli yuvraj dhoni raina ...... at that moment of time such a batting order would make most piss in their pants. I thinks its because of the poor form of players.
SLICKR392 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 ^ Almost the same XI now, in fact better in some sense but poor form.
Trichromatic Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 kohli, pujara, ashwin, ojha our only in-form players.
Number Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Didn't we play Saha as a pure batsman in one of tests against Steyn in recent times ?
maniac Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Didn't we play Saha as a pure batsman in one of tests against Steyn in recent times ? I think that was due to an unexpected injury to Rohit on the eve of the test match if I am not mistaken...I think he was supposed to make his debut
maniac Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Also 15 years dates back to 97....the team we hade in 99-00 under SRT around the matchfixing saga, was probably way worse. This is a much better team any day than that one.
Number Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 I think that was due to an unexpected injury to Rohit on the eve of the test match if I am not mistaken...I think he was supposed to make his debut He has been lucky as an ODI batsman at times and unlucky that hasn't been able to make Test debut yet. Regarding that test, middle order really looks funny now when you see it, at that time Vijay and Badrinath were scoring in FC so deserved their chances. M Vijay SRT Badrinath Saha Dhoni. :giggle:
bajrang Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 looks pretty decent to me, even number 8 batsmen (ashwin) has scored a century against decent pace attack. OTOH bowling looks solid too, ojha ashwin, with yuvi and maybe sehwag as part time spin option. dhoni can keep spin on all day. today even pujara rolled his arm over in practice match. his cricinfo cite him as leg spinner so who knows.
King Tendulkar Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 weakest team in last 15 years. WTF lol Clearly you have not watched the last 15 years:hysterical: Ridiculous thread
Sachin=GOD Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 weakest team in last 15 years. WTF lol Clearly you have not watched the last 15 years:hysterical: Ridiculous thread :cantstop:
saket123 Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 Flat tracks are the single reason why we are so unpredictable and suck in general. We need to be playing on clayey pitches more often. But unfortunately.. with the ever increasing power of the BCCI.. more and more India vs tournaments are being held in house (SL included).. rather than having a good balance.
saneindian Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 S Ramesh, SS Das, Dravid, Badani, Ganguly, Kaif, Dighe..in that test series in SL in 2001
