The bloke who started predicitng 4-0 and made a thread saying they'll smash England? This quote for one. Erm no. It was his first test series...EVER.
OK well he must have been playing cricket for 5yrs + unless that was his first every game :P I see nothing arrogant with that comment just fact, based on past series no spinner has troubled our batsman even Murali and Warne in India.

He is right but the English let the spinners get to them, they dont attack them enough and take the fight to them.I still think it will be a tied series though(mainly because of our batsmen).

Glad to see this chit spinners average finally rising. He's got no mystery, averaged 25 in Dubai but that's misleading. Monty was 21, Ajmal and Rehman around 14, Hafeez 16. He's also been chit in India and he wasn't young by any means when he toured. He is a 35 average spinner, he will get there eventually. But I agree with his comments about spinners. I think there is no way Ashwin will average any less than 33-34 by the time he plays 50 Tests. Ojha won't reach that mark, eve at his peak he is above 30.

Realistically, it doesnt matter if that batsman was Farhat, Kohli, Tendulkar, Sehwag, nobody can play that.
You are ignorant to say that Tendulkar, Kohli, Sehwag would not have played that. They would have played that in their dreams because that would have been a normal off spin for them. For Farhat, it was a big leg spin.

To be frank ishant sharma would have played it better than imran farhat.

Are you high? The pitch wasn't even that much of a turner. throughout the whole match there was not much turn and then suddenly Swann pulls that out of the bag. Imagine blocking off and playing strokes for 10/20 overs and the ball is doing eff all. Suddenly one pitches outside leg, you think its going to hit middle/middleleg but then it goes past off. How would you read that? You think Kohli, Tendulkar, Dravid etc would play that Warne ball of the century? If a bowler produces a jaffa nobody can play it. Think back to the oval, the only game in the england tour where it had a bit of turn. Swann ended up with a 10fer if i recall correctly, getting out tendulkar, dravid in the process.

^ Dont think he's saying that Swann can never produce a ball to dismiss Virat, sachin etc only that this particular ball would not affect a right hander the same way as a left hander

Swann is better to lefthanders than he is to right handers. Most off spinners are.

Agreed 100% . But English batters are also mystery. The start dancing on the pitch moment they hear the words "spinner is going to bowl" even if its DartBhajan.

Just can't like this rat. He has been having a go at INdia since the last ODI tour. AFAIK we or any other country don't need any sort of "specialist" or "mystery" spinners to gets these bunch of poms out.

No one's high here. Did you watch the recent series in India? This is just another regular delivery of an offie. It just straightened in as it does almost every time here, in the SC. The only factor in Swann's bowl was there was a bit of pace in it. It's totally rubbish to state that Kohli, Tendulkar or anyone else couldn't play that out.

"Secondly, we were bowled out by a mystery spinner that batsmen could not pick. India are not really blessed with a mystery spinner like that."
As usual, tubelight Swann stating what the rest knew eons ago. :giggle: It will be all more galling if the English batsmen fail against our bog standard spin attack of Ashwin, Ojha, Yuvi and Zaheer.

Knew somebody would say that! I had the stats copied and pasted at the ready! Averages 22.18 in Sri Lanka Averages 25.12 in Bangladesh Averages 25.07 in UAE Averages 39 in India (it was his first test series ever and he was playing Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid etc all in their primes) Average of 26 in the SC. Suck on that.
Irrespective of what the statistics say you should take it up your chin that England suck against spin. Just like India suck on bouncy tracks, stop getting your panties in a twist and enjoy the series.

Yes, but they have also been playing a lot of cricket in the sub continent lately on turning tracks, unlike previous teams and certainly unlike India who only play in England every 4 or 5 years. So I expect England to do a lot better. They certainly wont be pushovers.

I never said they would be "pushovers". But some poster is going on a crusade of proving everyone on ICF that they are "pretty good" against spin. I find that a ridiculous claim.

Eh? England are crap against good spin. I recognize that. What I posted is that Swann averages very good in the SC, nothing to do with England's batsman?
