I thought that was a great thing they did. Otherwise it would have turned into a complete media circus. We might even have had some people even protesting against the hanging.
Yep, I agree with you on this. People protesting about anything and everything with the help of media is actually becoming a huge problem in India.

Interesting fact of the day Kasab booked for entering CST without ticket http://www.sify.com/news/kasab-booked-for-entering-cst-without-ticket-news-mumbai-jegsJ0iijii.html

Mumbai: As the much-awaited chargesheet against Ajmal Amir Kasab will be filed on Wednesday, the lone surviving militant of the November 26 Mumbai terror attacks has also been booked for entering the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus without a platform ticket. More than 12 different cases have been filed against Kasab, who is presently in custody. During the Mumbai attacks, maximum number of casualties were reported from the CST — more than 50 persons were killed here. Here, the attack was launched by Kasab and Abu Ismail, leader of the group of 10 terrorists who entered Mumbai from the sea. From Badhwar Park area, where the five teams split, Kasab and Ismail went to the CST in a taxi and entered the platform from the far end of the station. Then they went to the main waiting hall of the upcountry train terminus side. The duo hurled grenades and opened fire with AK-47 rifles there. The duo entered the suburban side and escaped. Finally, Kasab was caught near Girgaum Chowpatty and Ismail shot dead. But, when they entered the CST, they violated railway rules — they did not have platform tickets -- said sources. Hence, the case against Kasab, the sources added.

One thing for which the Govt needs to be applauded is that they kept the date/time of the hanging completely secret..
I am impressed with the way the whole thing was done.Media will ask questions because they have been denied a circus and a weeks worth of breaking news. According to the news...the entire proceeding was video taped as proof but I doubt any one will ever see it and it should be kept so. The mobiles of the police officials were taken away and given back only after everything was over. I am impressed by the efficiency.

Yeah. Just imagine what news channels like India TV would have been doing if they had known about this in advance. Now lets see what happens to Afzal Guru...he should be the next in line.

Praying for Sarabjeet's safety. Land of the pure is fully capable of tit for tat. BTW, on a funny note, read somewhere that Kasab hanged himself after watching jab tak hain jaan movie :--D

Well, Capital punishment in inhumane and I am more inclined to oppose that. However if it works as the detterent as many people claim than it can be justified. In reality, I have never seen any empirical study which shows that societies with frequent capital punishments exhibit lesser crime rates than other socities.
So where do you draw the line? locking up a person like an animal in prison is inhumane too? May be we should not have any prisons and release few of the criminals into your house, under your custody. Sounds good? It's so easy to talk like this when you are far away from the action and you are not affected by the crime in anyway.

I also don't like the idea of capital punishment very much but I think in cases like this its not an entirely unjustified method. What Kasab did would certainly come under the "rarest of rare" crimes.

IMO Sarabjeet's chances of getting a pardon now is remote.

There has to pics that have to be taken for proof as any such claims made later has to be answered. Police have protocols and Pictures of the body are included in that. Even a doctor has to check the body and certify the death.
I knew there were pictures and now even the police says that the incident was videotaped. Good for them.

Good Riddance and high time too. Unfortunately hundreds of Kasabs would be entering India with valid visas for the Pakistan series. He got a merciful death. I would have preferred him to be let loose in an enclosure with all the close relatives of the victims of 26/11.

I am surprised by the lack of human-rights accusations here. Good to see. As many timers, there have been a lot of Indian parties who just love to lecture about human rights. But I guess, this case is different as he was a non-Indian. Had an Indian committed a similar act, there would been many conspiracies theories + local support in the name of mercy (human right)
