TNAmarkFrmIndia Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I can't seem to create a new thread in the IPL forum, so I'll make it here. The IPL transfer window was supposed to open on the 19th of this month. Why has there been absolutely no news of it since then? Does no one know about this or did they postpone the date?
kubrickian Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Pepsi bags title sponsorship of Indian Premier League The sixth season of the Indian Premier League will be called Pepsi IPL after it bagged the title sponsorship of the cash-rich T20 tournament for Rs 396.8 crore. The T20 league got the new sponsor after country's largest realty firm, DLF, their title sponsor for five years, decided not renew its contract in July. The company had spent Rs 250 crore in five years for IPL. Apart from Pepsi, Airtel was the only other bidder. http://sports.ndtv.com/cricket/news/item/199597-ipl-pepsi-bags-title-sponsorship-of-indian-premier-league Pepsi IPL ? :hmmm:
DomainK Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I find it kind of fitting. Pepsi and IPL kind of go well together.
carnish Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Good to see Pepsi back into investing in Indian Cricket. Would have loved to see different sponsors for the various International tournaments in India like test, ODIs and T20s. Having Airtel as the sole sponsor is good for Airtel but overall it sounds bad as each series is called as Airtel Series.
TNAmarkFrmIndia Posted November 21, 2012 Author Posted November 21, 2012 Sounds pretty awesome. Maybe like they call EPL the Barclays Premier League, they should call IPL the Pepsi Premier League. You know that the "Indian" part doesn't count for much when for the most part it's an international league.
Crookbond Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I am so excited about this - I now feel more comfortable in shelling out money for an over priced Pepsi. "Nothing official about it".
G_B_ Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Sounds pretty awesome. Maybe like they call EPL the Barclays Premier League' date=' they should call IPL the Pepsi Premier League. You know that the "Indian" part doesn't count for much when for the most part it's an international league.[/quote'] I think the 7-4 formula works and should not be changed. However, they need to have a clause that "X" about of matches must be played by each foreign player in the auction. The premier league hardly has any english players now a days. However, the big thing that this deal (and Hyderabad) does prove is that those writing off the IPL are totally wide of the mark. Commercially the IPL is stronger than ever.
namasteji1 Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 And that's a Pepsi maximum! lol, that'll be funny.
Sachinism Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Paid nearly twice as much as DLF did. Which probably means we're going to hear Pepsi twice as much during the games
don_corleone840 Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 WOW.Pepsi is back in cricket.good news for bcci
Zap_Brannigan Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 I did call out people saying the DLF not renewing their contract meant that IPL was doomed and DLF was exiting while it can. DLF did not renew because it couldnt afford the increase in price and was sure another company would pick it up for an higher price. DLF got it for 45 million $, pepsi for 75 million $.
SLICKR392 Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 Twitter : 396.8 crores for IPL title rights.. double than the last time.. All those articles about IPL losing steam put to rest.
Cricketics Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 So we will be hearing "That's a jeet lo shot from the batsman" "The youngistan award goes to Rohti Sharma"
DomainK Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 IPL's News II Now we will soon see some more pathetic and idiotic youngistan ads. :headshake:
