How good this guy has been?? In a country which is known to have a dearth of fast bowlers. Flat pitches, hot weather, string of injuries...but virtually nothing has frittered this workhorse to come out every time and put up a peformance to the optimum of his ability. Guy who has been instrumental in bringing India to a No. 1 test spot, arguably the 2nd best left arm seamer in the history of cricket. "Zakh", a name that most indian cricket followers have percevied from the stumps microphone for the past decade or so, heres a tribute to the living legend of India :hatsoff:

Someone who averages above 30 is among the Great fast bowlers ? Just because he is India's best , doesnt make him World's best . Thats like saying Steve Tikolo is a Legend because he is a far superior batsman compared to other batsmen in his country .

So according to you, who is the second best left arm seamer?

Never gets the credit. True great. I mean people were abusing and hammering him before 1st test, asking for his head. Indian and world legend
+1 There have been lot of bowlers who got in and left and Zak has played with almost everyone one of them and still looks decent. One of the best and deserves all the credits :hail: He has also bowled and bowled pretty well in conditions that don't suit him. Writing him off considering his fitness in the recent years is rubbish.

 Yes - averages are not 'absolute', they are a product of times. Name a fast bowler who has done better than Zaheer during his time in the sub-continent.

In test cricket, he has been very good given the conditions he bowls in India and the support bowlers (Ishant, Praveen, Vinay ) he had. Let's also not forget his contribution to World Cup win. He was instrumental in getting breakthroughs when needed. A bowler like him would have been the greatest if he had played most of his cricket in England or SA. Still one of the best. :two_thumbs_up:

Totally agree. And the kind of value and guidance that he gives to the younsgters is something that can't be measured in Averages and strike rates. He was called as the bolwing captain in the WC, which in itself is a huge tribute. I remember when Srinath was around and Zak made his debut, he did not get this kind of mentoring and same applied a bit to Kapil Dev.

Great bowler considering the conditions he has played all his career. I don't get it when people tell all Indian batsmen averages are inflated because they play in flat tracks but never give credit to our bowlers who take 20 wickets of all visiting teams on the same pitches.

One of the greatest proponents of reverse swing after Wasim & Waqar. A fast bowler for all conditions. He was the main reason India got to No.1 Test Ranking and stayed there for 2 years. Also the premier bowler in India's World Cup campaign. Hats off to Zaheer.

Couldnt agree more, this is exactly the reason why zaheer deserves all the accolades, Zaheer is the reason why fast bowling is still at survival in our country where batting geniuses are breeding at a stones throw away from eachother.

i think the statement 'he is never given enough credit' is given too much credit. every time i see any media talking about him they are always praising him, and have seen him brought up in conversations not even involving him many times when talking about good left armers. indian legend definitely, world legend not so sure.

I wish Rohit Sharma was at a stone throw away distance from Tendulkar's home.
