R Ashwin, A crap Test Bowler?

no guarantee of that.he may have got hammered too leading to SA win
Has Jadeja been tested before in these conditions? In a test match? How do you know he would have threatened the batsmen?
He's done decently well on unhelpful surfaces. Can atleast keep things tight, seems to spin it more, more pace and he varies it. He is a smart thinking bowler and in tests, he gets into better rhythm. He's someone who could have bowled when SAF needed say 30 off 36 ish and get you a maiden. I feel that he attacks, add to that bounce, and he could take a wicket or two. He should only play if they're stubborn on playing a spinner. He's better than ashwin

Ashiwn just needs to look at his last few overs in the innings when he was firing it in to the pitch ,his action was better and the one of the ball kept low.He needs to rip the ball in to pitch not float it on these pitches.

Fastest to 100 wickets' date=' surely must be cr@p. :two_thumbs_up:[/quote'] This. Needs to be respected for that. None of Zaheer/Shami/Ishant could buy a wicket either all day until the last session. People need to realize that. These guys batted well.

Only in India will we have a talent like Ashwin and criticize him. Yes, he has struggled in this match, and yes, he has struggled abroad. But he has proved - in all formats of the game - what he is capable of. You will get an honest 40 overs out of him in a test match. he does have the ability to get you wickets. He can keep it tight. I too get frustrated when he is milked for easy singles but I am willing to invest in a talent like Ashwin and I think we all should be. I probably sound like a fanboy stating the same thing in all these threads, and yeah i'm a fan of the guy. But I really don't see any other options in Indian cricket that can give the team the value that ashwin provides. He's a frontline spinner, a more than solid batsman. His fielding sucks but he is a decent slipper Honestly who is the replacement. Jadeja? Are we seriously willing to go into a test match with 3 frontline bowlers only? jadeja has been succesful but seems to be one dementional. Bowling stump to stump will get you results in ODI cricket but I don't know if he has the variation to succeed in tests. I am willing to give him a shot but not at the expense of Ashwin Ojha is another option and he is a good bowler too. But do you see him doing any better than Ashwin? Not really...

Still doesn't deserve a place in Indian team outside India.
Neither does Dhoni, Dhawan and R. Sharma based on their performances so far.

Ojha averages 64 in Sri Lanka,so which spinner should play outside India?

Neither does Dhoni' date=' Dhawan and R. Sharma based on their performances so far.[/quote'] Agreed. Dhoni doesn't deserve either. Dhawan or kohli haven't played much. Ashwin played in Australia, and Sa. 69 overs without a wicket..❕❕❕..lol.. What a waste of space in Indian team.

I don't think many of you realize that but for Ashwin, South Africa would have easily won the match. Just check out his figures and see how tightly he has bowled. While most of our bowlers were going at 3-4RPO, Ashwin managed to peg back things at less than 2.5 RPO. If we had two Ashwin operating - SA would not even have come close to the target! Pace bowlers should get the wickets in South Africa while spinners must look to choke the batsmen for runs - I think Ashwin has done that. With experience, he will buy wickets. Even Kumble started picking up wickets in these conditions only after several tours - on his first tour to Australia, Kumble averaged 90 at a S/R of 175!
