Hats Off to Prabir Mukherjee What a decent and principaled fellow he is. In today's world he is a breath of fresh air. To rebuke Dhoni and the BCCI for wanting a square turner from day one, saying it is in his words 'Immoral' is IMHO brilliant. Why did it take this decent and recently double bereaved man to stand up for decency in Indian cricket? I am saying that Mr Mukherjee pointed out that the BCCI sold rights for five days and tickets for five days. Of course matches often end sooner, but in this case the pitch is or was being doctored to end sooner. that as the good man said is, immoral. Lots of people work hard to buy those tickets, for days that wont be likely to feature if Dhobi gets his way

They don't want the match to last 5 days.. I believe these days in India you can't buy tickets for a single day of a test match.. You are forced to buy for all 5 days. So if the match ends in 3-4 days it won't matter.

So you want a wicket like Ahmedabad which last 5 days where there is slow, low turn and batsmen have to grind to score runs. It will usually either result in win for team batting first or a boring draw. :facepalm:

Maybe you do not know the whole history of Prabir Da. Anyways, Dhoni has never said that he wants home advantage. He has simply said that "turning pitches" are the only ways we can provide sporting pitches in the SC which in turn rules out the toss. He said this after the A'bad test and gladly, he did not rebuke on this even when we lost in Mumbai.

Mr. Mukherjee, who was not in sync with the chairman (Daljit Singh) of the Ground and Pitches Committee of the Board regarding the line of preparation of the Eden Gardens pitch for the India-England Test starting on Wednesday, is known to be very protective of the pitch, square and the ground. Mr. Mukherjee, 83, decided to stay away from the Eden Gardens after the zonal curator Ashish Bhowmick was asked to work along with him. He even went to the media saying he would not step on to the ground in future. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Jagmohan Dalmiya and other officials managed to persuade him to return and manage the playing surface. Even in domestic matches in the past, Mr. Mukherjee had prohibited people, other than the teams and match officials, from straying anywhere near the pitch. A stickler for rules and ethics, Mr. Mukherjee once again showed he would not budge an inch even if it were EnglandÃÔ former captains. Atherton captained England in 54 Tests from 1993 to 2001 before he took up journalism. Boycott, who represented England in 108 Test matches, is a media personality. This dud loves the media limelight and everytime a test match is played, he locks horns with the host/visiting captains/ press to ensure plenty of sound bytes for the media. I wonder why is there a need for him to run to the press every day before the test match. never ever heard a groundsman giving so many interviews to the media. hasn;t happened for the 1st time with Mr. Mukherjee either.
