Much prefer ashwin and oijha. Then identify proper 3rd spinner if needed. Jadeja is a very good bits and pieces player, great for odis. But in tests need to be great in one of the disciplines of bowling/batting. He is neither. He picked more wickets against England in first innings of Nagpur test than the so called specialists in the side.

As cant play pace and short ball as well but still play it better then jadeja these two are tried n tested failures.they dont even have patience.Jadeja can play long innings as he shown in FC.only played one test.plus hes better bowler n better fielder than these two That said,I want neither of 3 in the team atm.want proper bats like Rohit.Jaddu is just best of these 3:giggle:

Muloghonto Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Jadeja cannot replace Ashwin in the test side because ultimately, Ojha is better suited for the monotonous 'hold up one end and force batsmen to make mistakes' type bowling and you need someone with variations at the other end. yes, Ashwin needs to be way more accurate and consistent to a plan to be effective, but Jadeja is not an upgrade on Ashwin as a bowler and for a guy who's scored a test century and a very good 90, with batting average in the mid 40s, we have to give Ashwin more rope than one or two series.

Pragyan Ojha Abhinav Mukund Rohit Sharma - He can be a better test batsman Ishant Sharma
