King Tendulkar Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 He is being touted by a lot of people. Let me tell you know he is simply not good enough for test cricket and his technique is suspect and in aprticular would be exposed there. I think he may have a role in odis etc But tests , no way!!
CG Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Yeah when he faces a fast bowler he just hangs back and if somebody bowls him a bouncer he just gets in to the mindset expecting every ball to be a bouncer and just makes a mess of it.
Lord Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 yes if he plays,he will be wolloped by bowlers

CG Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 wat do u base that on? Watching him in odis and domestic matches. He just hangs back even when he made a century against wi he just hang back i was worried he would be bowled but he did manage.
Lord Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Watching him in odis and domestic matches. He just hangs back even when he made a century against wi he just hang back i was worried he would be bowled but he did manage. thats the key no,he managed.u need to manage with your technique.good technique isnt everything
CG Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 thats the key no' date='he managed.u need to manage with your technique.good technique isnt everything[/quote'] Thats in odis in tests he could be exposed big time .
King Tendulkar Posted November 29, 2012 Author Posted November 29, 2012 He is another raina/yuvi type player. Not a TEST match player
Lord Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Thats in odis in tests he could be exposed big time . could be,but lets give him the chance before that.that applies to any player
NareshK Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 You cant rule out any player because you never know what he is capable of given the right chances but having said that, the pitches in India have generally become very flat because of ODIs and IPL. That's why in Ranji trophy, every team is scoring 500 or 600 in every game and there havent been many quality spinners and pacers coming through the ranks while there are lots of batsmen without proper technique averaging above 55. This is a trend that's happening all across the world, not just in India and most of these batsmen will be found out in conditions which are helpful for bowlers.
daindian Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Give him a chance!!! He can't do any worse than yuvraj, raina, badri, and also why is it every upcoming Batsman has bad technique or temperament for tests?? Tiwarys technique might not be the best but I'd rather have him if we need to bat a day out than raina, nohit yuvraj, badri. Flaws in technique can be worked on eg kp and left arm spin,. Flaws in temperament can't Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Lord Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 He is another raina/yuvi type player. Not a TEST match player Raina,Yuvi averaged in 40s even in FC.Tiwary averages 59.surely thats an indicator
Pagalpanti Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Technique isn't everything. Laxman used to hang back as well, but he scored runs in tests didn't he? Tiwary has temperament for big innings, at least he's shown that in his few outings. Not the best technique around but if he can be a grinder, he'll be perfect for no.6 spot India are vying to fill ever since Dada quit.
rkt.india Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 We need to try whatever options we have and then see who clicks. Raina and Yuvraj should not be anywhere near tets team for now. Selectors need to punt on new guys and we have plenty at FC level.

When many other factors wether can take step up to test level. To me its obvious he will not be a good test match player, I hope I am wrong but he simply does not look a test match player. Again hope I am proved wrong. But think must look at other options amongst youngsters first

Does not fish around pointlessly, and takes his time. Good temperament.

Number Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 His average in FC games tells that he should be given a chance in the test team. We can't write off a player like this.
