:(( unmukt is really grabbing the opportunity i can see him coming in our one day side very soon
Well he's better than Dhawan, Vijay etc. He's absolute class as was evident in that final. Failed a bit in NZ, but he seems to have the technique to play overseas. Rahane has a better record when not opening, he also has failed in India A games and tour games in Aus overseas. Probably not so good opening, should be tried in middle order. Spots of SRT and Yuvraj are up for the taking.

need to keep an eye on some other player too other than these who are prospects. Manpreet Juneja from Gujarat debuted last year with a double hundred. He is good at handling genuine pace, saw him play Aaron who was bowling at 90 mph very well once. He has 4 100s in 7 matches. Another guy is Akshath Reddy from Hyderabad, opener. He did impress in IPL too though he is not made for T20s but he showed good technique.

How has Mandeep been doing? I heard on the grapevine that he has been chit?
Main"duck" ! He scores a duck every alternate innings and when in mood he does it 2-3 innings in a row.

It's heartening to see some youngsters top both the batting and bowling tables. Time for selectors to do their job. Papu Patel has had wonderful season averaging 69 at SR of 80, and getting runs in 9 out of 13 innings. Sandeep Sharma has been by far the best bowler, amazing SR.

Most Wickets So why have we chosen Darekar and Jalaj Saxena again? Seems our A players have bombed this season, bar a few.
Jalaj Saxena is not a specialist bowler. He is a batsman who can ball, batting alrounder in domestic cricker and did not bowl much this season.

Updated the OP with stats upto the end of Ranji prelims. Trends remain the same. The most shocking is the decline of the spinners Darekar and Rahul Sharma. Among batsmen Surya Yadav has been a huge let down, Mandeep has picked up and scored some runs as did Menaria. Mukund has continued to struggle but yet somehow continues to lead the India A squad. Not sure based on what. Rohit Sharma continued to score runs but may have to do much more to retain his national spot.

Pandey, Shami, Awana, Sandeep, Pankaj, Also heard positives about Mohit Sharma, Rajpoot, S Kaul, B Kumar So plenty to work with for selectors. Would be surprised if at least two of the above don't make their Test debut in Australia series, especially with Umesh Yadav likely to be injured and Zaheer unlikely to be persisted with.

im liking the attitude of selectors they are giving young bowlers chances ! :) this is how u develop pace bowlers by rewarding good performance and always keep them under check shami is in squad..pandey is in a team..sandeep sharma will be in a team too im sure we are finally going to get rid of vinay :yay:

What rubbish! Can't you realise that once again these guys are getting breaks in wrong formats? Just check their List A records? How earth shattering is that? And will we discard them on their non performance in limited overs cricket if they fail to impress there, despite impressing in the longer format, like most probably we're going to do with Awana? All the selectors are jokers!

lol even i hate this selecting for odis cos of test performance..hell i think awana was on wrong side of it but what i meant was compare to tenure of last selection committee they kept on selecting vinay kumar, mithun and honestly not many younger players specially bowlers made debut yadav and aaron were two of them with new committee atleast good performers are not being ignored.. this is the reality of indian cricket this rubbish logic of test young players in odis first ..but atleast they are not trying failures again n again

Thing is Awana's and Dinda's FC record is very average and he is not discarded yet. He was in squad against England and well might be against Aus as well. He is just not picked for ODI team.
