Shockingly, the police tried to keep the assault under wraps and initially did not file an FIR. After getting flak from the police brass, cops swung into action and have arrested four accused, three days after the sexual assault on December 3. A hunt has started for the fifth accused. The additional SHO of Timarpur police station has been sent to the district lines as punishment and an inquiry ordered into the police inaction. Details of the incident were sketchy because cops were tightlipped about it. It is likely the victim had been studying in Delhi University, which has a large number of foreign students, since she lived close to the North campus. Rape accused also took away the woman's belongings. Police said they have been identified as Deepak, Ashok, Vikas and Praveen, all aged 24 to 26 years, police said.

I think the aversion to dark skin (by extension to black people) is just down to the caste system and a lot of what people claim as racism is just a bunch of confused idiots trying to be funny. Even when Andrew Symonds was abused, those idiots probably didnt know he was of caribbean decent. They just mocked him for the hairstyle he had IMO. (P.S. Am in no way justifying what these aholes do) I had a nigerian colleague in my office and she was quite attractive. Apparently she had a thing for Indian (South Asian) men and then she was like "you lot are passive racists and I have rarely seen any black people having Indian spouses, so I just dont even talk to most of them as I do not want to get hurt". I was speechless

I don't need to see rape stat's to say all this, talk to bunch of people outside and see how they view women in general. To them every women is whhore except their own family members. Men alone are not responsible for this, our 'chugli' (Gossip/Backbite) culture has resulted in women accusing other women. Be it dowry, forced abortion, gender bias. But you can't really put all blame on women, when you see your father or brother getting murdered in full public view for protesting eve-teasing, Then who will want to have daughter in this country? From the age of 10 girl's family in India have to sacrifice so much, like saving her while she attends school, tuition after school. Mundane tasks which are normal in west are like some achievement in India for girls.

I asked her a hypothetical question - If there was eve teasing with someone else with her father/brother around would her father/brother intervene. She said - No. There goes one part of the problem.
