Frankly ashwin is defo better spinner. And also probably a better bat as well now. At least ashwin is showing can play the ball when bounces over waist height

Gillespie got against bangladesh.Gilespie did not have technique of ashwin .Ashwin had a poor series but he did well last series and with bat this series.He is young and learning as a spinner.But he has done well albeit against weaker sides.

First let him bat in 1st innings, then you give your comments. Right, he was not able to accelerate in ODIs but this is Test and you don't need to accelerate in Test. We need grafters. Pls understand the dilemma of the selectors. Spinners selected for the series did not do a good job. Yuvraj failed which opened up a spot for an allrounder. Who else to pick? They can only go by the domestic competition performance. Jadeja shone both with the bat and the ball. They picked him - simple. If Rahane were picked, there would be shortage of spinners in the playing XI. If you think Ishant (who would have thought he would do well in this test), Ojha (good but not setting the stage on fire), Ashwin (avg performance) and Piyush (we have seen him in previous tests) alone can bowl the opposition out, then think twice. In such a situation, wickets by an allrounder would be a bonus. The 2 wickets which Jadeja took kept us in the game. If he bats as well as Yuvraj also it is a bonus because Yuvraj did not pick any wickets in the series. Selecting Chawla was a mistake though; they should have gone for a good spinner or a medium pace bowling allrounder like Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who did well in the Ranji games. Ashwin should be retained as a pure batsman as he has done better than most in the team.
