Wow look at all this talk. British should never have left sub continent. Only then these warriors on both sides would have found out what being oppressed really means. There will never be peace in this region because of brainwashed idiots on both sides. Lunatics in Pak are dreaming if conquering Dehli and I am amazed to see warriors here are discussing annexing Pakistani Kashmir and Gilgit. It's good to see people of Kashmir valley and Pakistani Kashmir don't really enter in the discussions between both countries. Shows the low class mentality of India and Pakistan. No wonder both countries have huge population living under poverty whilst they are busy building military power.

So many Zaid Hamids in this thread :facpalm: Nothings gonna change in terms of territory. India will never cede any of J&K and same with AJK. Only solution is the conversion of LOC into an IB. But again, many interests will be undermined if that was gonna happen.

Your comment got me curious, so I did a quick headcount of the warriors, non warriors, and posters whose stance I could not make out in the thread. Can't find too many warriors advocating an attack on Pakistan or PoK: Warriors: Rohit S. Ambani, yoda(think his comment was sarcastic though) Non Warriors: ravishingravi, AGHORI, velu, Anonymous, Clarke, Tiger80, punjabi_khota, Numb, L'Etranger, 1983-2011, KhanSaab, tdigi, Stuge, ganeshran, Vibhash, Sachin=GOD, nballa, Gunner, youngindia Don't know: Sean Bradley, King Tendulkar, just a fan, suraj, Texy

L'ENTRANGER you made your list purely based on OPs question. There are people who would want to get Pakistan Kashmir but are not convinced it's worth the effort. I can only find one or two posts that talk about opinion of people of the region. That's where the problems lies. To me people who belong to that region are the main stakeholders but sadly for Ind and Pakistan they dont matter.

There is also a third party China involved in this. Somehow it is the elephant in the room that all parties conveniently ignore.

To give Kashmiris on both sides of the border an option to be a united independent country would be unfair to people from all other regions of India and Pakistan who were denied that option.

From my interaction with people in India and Indians abroad, the vast majority want the Line of Control to be made the international border and bury the issue, with the option of a one time movement of the population who want to stay in India or move to Pakistan. Basically, the termination of the partition process. I am all for the rights of the people, but the Kashmir issue has become so messy due to so many different reasons: 1. Pakistan never withdrew it's troops from Azad Kashmir as mandated by the UN resolution. 2. Pakistan gifted the Karakoram tracts to China. 3. Kashmiri Pundits have been driven out of their homes altering the demographics irreversibly. 4. The Kashmir movement in India has an appeal only among Sunni Kashmiris in a handful of districts. 5. The large presence of the army and terrorist organizations, and the resulting human rights violations. 6. The Shimla agreement between India and Pakistan. You would have to be naive to believe that any resolution will be a reflection of the population of Kashmir. But I can say one thing for sure that Indians wishing to take over Azad Kashmir and Gilgit would be a tiny minority.

So azad kashmir doesnt give any azadi to its citizens :hmmm: thats interesting. As for the whole mess.. I would also prefer the LOC to be International border so morons cant start shooting for fun. The population of the valley should have an option to move to azad kashmnir or pakistan, since pakistanis have bigger hearts, Im sure they will allow their fellow citizens to settle down and call the azad kashmir their home. If not then Pakistan has more than 1/3 Kashmir and should be able beg/borrow/steal money to create a new city for these migrants. Thats the final solution.

Lets just say hypothetically X % of residents living in the Indian side of J&K want independence. AFAIK X>50% only in the Kashmir valley & not Jammu/Ladakh. Does that mean the Kashmir valley deserves independence on its own ? It shouldn't then drag Jammu/Ladakh coz that's the sort of behavior they're fighting against wrt India. Assuming Kashmir valley gets to be its own state by means of its local plebiscite (ignoring demographic shifts for the sake of discussion), what can be inferred from the exercise ? Does India as well as Pak allow chunks of people to vote for local plebiscites within their geographical areas similar to Kashmir valley, giving rise to Republic of North-West Kolhapur/Karachi and a thousand other nations ? Is that the price of azaadi :nervous:

^ What about the question at hand ? How does a nation decide on allowing a plebiscite in the question of human rights & fairness ? At what benchmark (no. of people, area of land) is any plebiscite justified ?

Even if it was a cake walk India wont touch it. Unless POK people desperately want to join India. I think status quo is acceptable forever. Whatever happened so far is good for all the 3 nations. But giving away Kashmir is totally out question as well. Now in the conventional wars, higher grounds were vital but with the air power hight factor is really negated. But unfortunately terrorist from across the border will always be a threat and having kashmir valley as a natural deterrent is one of the many reasons. It will become a huge international security issue. I personally do not want to take POK. Keep it but leave us alone.

Kasmiri people are the major blame for their plight. They should focus on living in peace and prosperity. Instead they seem to want to live in misery to fight for ideology and be puppets of pakistan. India wants them to be peaceful and live in prosperity, in fact they will be showered with money if they want this. Instead they fight for their ideology and put their kids futures in misery. Kashmiris all over india now making money, they dont stop moaning though. Like muslims all over the world never integrate at all and make themselves distant from other communities and hostile towards them with tension. Same story world wide Look at punjab, hot bed of terrorism. Chose peace and now most wealthy state in India and people so happy.
