maverick451
Genuine question, Im not an just trying to wind up you guys but why is your fielding so bad? is fielding not respected enough? or taught from a young age? do Indian men not like diving around? do the superstars think it is beneath them? When I was a young boy in England throwing yourself around taking diving catches was one of the best bits about playing cricket, I genuinely cant understand why a nation of cricket lovers accept the current standard. Tiger-Don
I think it has something to do with focusing on the field....watching the highlights of the game, i could see that awana and others weren't focused enough....or another thing could be is the eyes! maybe they have bad eyes..who knows Link to comment
Magneto
Only Awana was really poor throughout ... and Chawla is ordinary too ... the rest fielded pretty decently throughout the match. Link to comment
VRV Singh
In LOI it is pretty decent really. You can pick out the obvious culprits before the match. Ashwin, Chawla and now we have Awana. Just so happened today that Awana was in the thick of it. Otherwise it is a younger unit than in Tests and it shows. Tests is a very different story - you got the mix of older players, those who are plain unfit and a mix of both. Theoretically that should improve as the age of the team decreases. Link to comment
Number
1. Good fielders - Rahane, Raina, Kohli, Jadeja, Rohit, MS, Yuvi. 2. Avg. - Gambhir, Dinda. 3. Poor - Chawla, Awana, Ashwin. One of the reasons is grounds at grass root level are pretty hard without much of grass cover. Because of that diving around doesn't come naturally to many players. It is gradually improving and upcoming players are better in it in general, bar a few like Ashwin. Link to comment
dangerman1985
our Indian fielders like kohli, raina, rahane are much better than your english male fielders. Yuvraj singh was a good fielder once but not now. Ajit agarkar was also a very good fielder when he used to play. It is just the seniors like sehwag, gambhir, khan are poor and also players like ashwin. Link to comment
Clarke
is fielding not respected enough? or taught from a young age? Partially true, same goes with other aspects such as fitness. do Indian men not like diving around? do the superstars think it is beneath them? It might have to do with the outfields (taking a guess here). Read/Heard something about this long back from a respected cricketer like Sunny suggesting that diving in local games would give cuts & bruises on your arms and hence was not preferred. Things might have changed since, hence the overall better fielding as compared to yesteryears. There's still some way to go. Link to comment
bajrang
somebody take this guy to local maidan so he can show us how they taught him to dive in england and in return scrap up his skin fragments from the ground and take him to hospital for skin graft on knee knuckles and elbow. King Tendulkar
Other countries grow up playing other sports like football and rugby. So catching, diving, sliding, getting dirty/sweaty, having blood on you, commitment to the team winning and team ethic come naturally as those sports really encourage and train this. Our guys just grow up playing cricket and no other rough and tough team sports which promote such physicallity and team ethic Link to comment
Needforspeed
In school level cricket and District level cricket, no way you are going to dive. The grounds are so rough that after a couple of dives you would be bruised and bleeding. Some of the bigger cities may be an exception. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
It is silently regressing. Jaddu for all his average form is always a solid fielder. Raina is also a solid fielder. With guys like Chahal, Bumra, Jadhav Indian fielding looks so weak. There is no energy on the ground with these guys. What the hell is coach doing? Link to comment

Trichromatic
Quote 20.2 Bumrah to Elgar, FOUR, "that was very very badly misjudged" says Sunny G on air. What a clanger by Vijay. That was an opportunity and he made a mess of it. Elgar has this tendency to pull, he is an instinctive puller, takes on the short ball and doesn't keep it down. Vijay charged forward initially from deep backward square, then as the ball kept on sailing over his head, made an attempt with one hand to try and catch that. But it flew over him and to the fence. At altitude the ball flies and Vijay should've factored that in. A chance goes begging Link to comment
Shy9
Ever since under 19 India starts playing, its Nagging issue of our Fielding.Today too, if we Fields better, we can restrict Australia insides 35/38 overs for 150 runs victory. Link to comment
SandeepMotta
Three dropped catches today. Parthiv Patel is an horrible excuse for a wicket keeper. Link to comment
