CM Gautam, Karnataka: M 8; Runs 938; Hs 264*; Average 134; 100 3; 50s 2 The 26-year-old wicket-keeper batsman is one of the big reasons why Karnataka are in the quarters. Having scored two hundreds and three fifties in seven games, Gautam slammed an unbeaten 264 in a must-win game against Maharashtra at Pune in the first innings and in a tense chase in the second innings, he belted an 8-ball 16 as Karnataka chased 92 in 11.4 overs. Parthiv Patel, Gujarat: M 8; Runs 895; Hs 162; Average 68.84; 100 3; 50s 6 The India discard is doing everything he can to make the selectors take notice of his performances. His hundred against Mumbai on a bowling-friendly first-day pitch at the DY Patil Stadium was quality stuff. He's shown that captaincy, keeping and batting isn't a burden on him. VA Jagadeesh, Kerala: M 8; Runs 871; Hs 199*; Average 72.58; 100 4; 50 1 The Kerala opener has been the rock of the team and has churned out big scores consistently. Apart from scoring an unbeaten 199 against Services, he also scored hundreds in back to back games against Jharkhand and Andhra respectively. Sadly, his efforts weren't enough to take the team into the quarters. Amol Muzumdar, Andhra: M 8; Runs 868; Average 78.90; 100 5; 50 2 He's switched loyalties from Mumbai to Assam and now turns out for Andhra, but one thing that hasn't changed with Amol is his love for batting and his desire to score runs. The season also saw him become the first player go past the 9000-run mark. The move southwards has clearly worked for the Mumbai stalwart. Manprit Juneja, Gujarat: M 8; Runs 796; Hs 159; Average 66.33; 100 3; 50s 2 In just his second season, he has already taken giant strides towards becoming one of the main stays of the Gujarat line-up. He could have ended the season with a hundred, but his 98 was worth its weight in gold as it came after a top-order collapse and took time out of the game and denied Mumbai an outright win.

2 wicket keeper batsmen in top scorers in the Ranji-league phase.. so who says' date=' there is no alternative for Dhoni in tests?[/quote'] DK is also in the list :two_thumbs_up:

Manpreet Juneja is the middle order batsman next in line' date=' I guess, will be in A team.[/quote'] Binny will probably pip him due to his pop :winky:

CM Gautam & Parthiv -- pushing hard for a TEST spot... seems like Saha dint have a good season
Saha had a decent season, only good batsman in Bengal. scored 558 at 46 and batted in some helpful conditions for pacers highest run getter for Bengal.

Another batsman to keep an eye on is Vaibhav Rawal from Delhi. In his debut season, he played 5 matches and scored 381 runs at an average of 63.

One interesting thing is that UP are on top of group B but they don't have any batsman in the top 20 and only 1 bowler in the top 10 so its been quite a team effort this time.

Out of those Jadeja got them in just 2 knocks on the flattest pitches. Dogra got them on flat pitches in a group with weaker teams. Jiwanjot got them on tracks which helped bowlers. He was also opening. Jiwanjot's record is most impressive and if he does well on SA A tour he will should debuting in the test series. Mohali pitch suits seamers and he has done very well.

Uday Kaul has done well consistently for years. His 90 recently on a tough pitch was impressive. Has a few 100s as well this season. Parthiv should be forgotten, he has failed. CM or Kaul, I'll say Kaul cause he's in tougher group and has been playing in tougher conditions. Kaul also has the most wicket keeper dismissals.

I'll say Kaul cause he is from Poonjab:--D

Another reason Ill have Kaul is because he is better prepared for SA with the Mohali pitch aiding seamers. A right/left combo also is good to upset bowlers line/length. SA's spearhead Steyn doesn't have as good a record against lefties. Kaul also has 4 LO 100s in 40 innings showing he can play agressively if needed. That's what you need from a number 7 unlike CM who has no hundreds. CM will probably be the sort of player that comes in at 7 and is 20 off a 100 balls just settling in while at the other end there is a collapse and team goes all out. CM not even once lol. If Dhoni retires from tests after home Aus series I would have Uday Kaul.

SG UP are not just top of gp B but have been the best side of the tournament so far. They have 33 points' date=' Punjab ended up with 32.[/quote'] In a group full of chit teams. Please go. Who is UP's best player? Kaif lol? UP not even once.

Parthiv's batting potential is not really in question. if no he can be someone like Prior, he can make gritty 30 and 40s. But problem is his keeping. It is well beyond repair. We have to pick others like Gautam, Uaday Kaul, Saha, Karthik.
