If we are to win this' date=' it has to be by an innings. Dhawan and Vijay should attack right from the start, like they did today. We have Kohli and Dhoni coming in, who can score at 6 RPO easily. It is going to be really difficult, but we can get a lead of around 200 and then bowl them out. But this is going to take some bowling.[/quote'] The ball is turning. Steve Smith especially. I think if India hold onto their catches (i am talking kohli at slip and pujara at short leg) india do have a decent chance.

Score like in ODI for 60 overs. First session to break even and then lead accumulation in second. So about 150 run lead. Don't declare late in third session as it will help Aussies secure a draw. Also, a full sessions bowling will enable Dhoni to give a spell each to every bowlers rather than swap bowlers in short spell . Normal spells for each bowler would help them settle to the line and length as well as enough time to work out the batters in each spell.

A result looks difficult. Pitch is becoming flatter and slower, doesn't look like crumbling with all that clay holding it together despite it being a dry wicket. Run rate will slow down when Dhawan gets out. Plan to score around 300 in 85 overs leaving about an hour tomorrow and 98 overs on last day to get the Aussies out. An Aussie collapse looks improbable on this wicket though.

should play some aggressive cricket from both ends and match their score and declare it in first session itself(possible with 30+ overs and 10 wks in hand) then try and get their 10 wks ASAP. we may get only around 40 overs to chase around 300 if we can put ourselves in a better situation its better then go for it in the final innings
that would be unwise IMO. In the 1st session even if they play very fast, they won't get a lead of more than 50-60 runs and it would mean a certain draw.

Trial by 125 runs and look for a lead of 150 runs at least. So say 300 more runs should be possible in 2 sessions tomorrow given we have 10 wickets in hand. Only if we score at 4.5-5 rpo like today. And have a good 30-40 overs of bowl at Aussies. Don't think we can bowl out Aussies in a day, to give us best chance would be to declare positively.

+1 I think we can chase upto 6 runs per over in the 4th innings.

Just quoting myself from the other thread :

completely agree. If we are even thinking of any scenario in which we might have to bat again here then I think it would only mean a draw. But everything depends on how well these two play in the 1st session tomorrow - if we have a good 1st session tomorrow then anything is possible in this match otherwise its a draw.

knowing dhoni and fletcher, bat out till lunch of day 5 (with many batsmen playing for personal milestone) @ 3 per ovr so that a loss is completely out of equation and then hope aus make mistakes while batting..so it`ll be a draw

Its a draw.dont expect them to go for it' date='Dhoni settled for a draw even when we were down 2-1 v England[/quote'] Settled for a draw? lol we fought well not to lose it 1-3

Dhoni needs to come in if Dhawan falls' date=' its a must.[/quote'] Absolutely but unlikely...would love for Dhoni to come up the order

Will Dhoni now select Ojha now that there will be one more right hand batsman in the line up? :hmmm:
He does but the BEST bowler ends up making a "century" as is so typical. :winky:

what?we were in a position to force the win on 4th day which we absolutely needed.but some strange tactics meant we couldnt

Perhaps you are referring to that one hour when we scored nothing. Not sure how much of a difference it would have been as England never looked lke getting out on that day 4 and 5 wicket. We were 50-4 when we batted and one wicket away from a collapse and a 3-1 loss.
