Dhoni's tactical errors and dropped catches watch

Was thinking of creating this thread for a long time but now that it looks as if Dhoni is never going to get sacked as a captain, lets track the tactical errors he makes in matches. These could be related to :

- Team Selections - Field placements - Bowling changes

We can also add the missed chances by Dhoni (dropped catches, run outs / stumpings missed). The purpose of the thread is obviously not to run down Dhoni but to highlight how his continued captaincy is hurting India (if the mounting losses are not enough of a proof).

He doesnt drop many tbf to dhoni, i have rarely seen dhoni mess behind the stumps under pressure, there might have been a few one off's though, but yeah, you are spot on, tactics and dhoni are not best friends... Since his Luck has deluded him he has been badly exposed.

agree,he only used to take the ones that came straight to him n required him to move little,now not even doing that.against spinners he was good,but now not so much

No...I agree with the context of KT's post....I can't say we would have won the series but lashing out at a fellow team member who is really stepping up, in the middle of a game or even a series is definetely not sensible leadership.

I don't thinlk it was a bad move. We were a bowler short, PK had already bowled a lot of overs, new ball was still a few overs old, Bhajji was not looking threatening, some cloud cover..not a bad choice. And noways was it a mockery of test cricket.

He could have had part-timers bowl but that move was just embarassing in the long run.Even if he had gotten KP's wicket,that move right there gave England the mental edge. I mean how deep are our resources when one bowler gets injured and the Wicket Keeper starts bowling :facepalm:

So you would have preferred to watch a part time spinner bowl in those cloudy conditions? Dhoni bowls regularly in the nets and I don't think it was a bad move. It wasn't out of blue that he came out and bowled. On day 1 itself after Zak had injured himself, there was talk of Dhoni bowling next morning. Talking of giving mental edge, did you watch Wade bowl recently in a test match?

Dhoni thinks himself to be a handy medium pacer,So It was not a bad option in england.He almost got Kp. Dhoni outburst against sreesanth On pitch and in press conference was uncalled for.It was against Team ethics. Dhoni Has a tendency to take a bowler off if he is hit for a boundary even in test cricket,which i think is a thinking brought about by odis and t20s. Dhoni Also Has Some special method of choosing which part timer will bowl in a match.

If he was not a keeper, he could have easily been a handy seam bowling batting alrounder we dont have.
