saneindian Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 :two_thumbs_up: If we don't discuss abt Ganguly, we almost agree on everything. :icflove: If we all agree with each other on all the points, where is the scope for debate :winky:
Lord Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Too early to tell. And Nayar can bowl at this level too. Nayar doesnt look a bowler.Kohli has good action n seems he can increase pace, was swinging the ball well, can be an option imo, considering conditions in Aus/SA.should play on A tours imo. also Nayar doesnt hv a great batting technique,Kohli does
Cevno Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 We will be having the champions trophy at the same time. Can't see tried and tested failures for champions trophy, Bhuvan and Shami if keep bowling well will go there with Indian team with Ishant/Aaron/Awana/Dinda and Pathan. That leaves Vinay, Mithun and U-madkat etc with Pandey, Mohit, Rajpoot , Sid Kaul. So I guess Siddharth Kaul will make it as his team has done well. I would also send Umesh on A tour to SA to lead the pace attack. Rajpoot i doubt is even in contention right now. Warrier maybe if he is impressed in nets. Pankaj Singh ought to be there. 6.6 and bowling quicker this year with accuracy. Plus has past experience in SA. And you can't select 7 seamers for CT with 7 in SA.
NareshK Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Pace is not just enough. Can the bowler land the ball on the seam consistently enough and get movement both ways ? Does he have good control and bowl in the corridor on and around off stump consistently and hit the good length and make the batsman play ? These things are even more important to get top class batsmen out.

Not sure how good he is right now though. And his batting has come on leaps and bounds. Consistently performing for 3 seasons now. I am assuming we are talking about ODI team, btw ? And if we are then Nayar is perfect to play at 7 too. Can hit big sixes straight up.

Cevno Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Btw, does anyone know what was the logic of these selectors to select Dinda and Awana ahead of the consistent domestic performers who now seem good bowlers too ?

His batting could be decent but not sure if his bowling will trouble international batsmen. He is a Stuart Binny, Rajat Bhatia type bowler.
Number Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Rajpoot i doubt is even in contention right now. Warrier maybe if he is impressed in nets. Pankaj Singh ought to be there. 6.6 and bowling quicker this year with accuracy. Plus has past experience in SA. And you can't select 7 seamers for CT with 7 in SA. For CT I meant only one (or max 2) out of those 4 will make in the 15. Rest of them will be discarded(I feel Dinda and Awana). For SA out of 7 I mentioned, 3 would make it. Pankaj Singh wasn't there for India A. So I guess probably selectors feel his time has passed. Although I feel he is good enough to play tests for India atm.

Cevno Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 dinda was highest wicket taker and awana has done well too...u can blame there judgement and in ability to see talents but u cant say they did not perform For one season. Otherwise he averages 30 while they don't select others who have been amongst the top for 2/3 seasons regularly. Awana i don't mind that much actually. He is a decent talent on the upswing but they should have let him play the whole of this season first.
rkt.india Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 they will send 4 quick bowlers pandey is there..i would send sid..but they will pick on stats and send sandeep and yes i will send yaddu too..but lets wait and see its really to far away to predict properly maybe yadav will come back in odi squad? they might send ishant there to prove himself... But Kohli isn't a better bowler than that level either. Even Ganguly looked handful at this level when it reversed.

Old guy Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Pandey' date=' Kaul, Mohit, Shami if not in ODI team, Rajpoot/Pankaj, Warrier are my options.[/quote'] last time they sent vinay and unadkat:winky:

Maybe too early for Rajpoot and Warrier as they have just broken through but depends on how they have impressed.
