The Congress Thread: Tracking India's Grand Old Party

Congress members complain that Rahul Gandhi is so distracted during his campaigning that he does not have even the inclination or time to connect with the party’s parliamentary candidates, let alone workers. At Devgadh Baria in the Bhil tribal constituency of Dahod in Gujarat, Dr Prabha Taviad was prevented from sitting on the dais by the SPG while Rahul addressed a rally, even though she tried to explain that she was the Congress candidate on whose behalf he was speaking. Immediately after the rally, Rahul shook a few hands and headed for the helicopter. Dr Taviad’s son and several members of the audience urged her to run and meet Rahul. “Bhag, mummy, bhag,” they all screamed helpfully in Gujarati. Taviad sprinted to catch up with Rahul so that she could thank him and exchange a few words, but the Congress vice-president had already pushed off for his next destination. http://indianexpress.com/article/opinion/columns/bhag-mummy-bhag/
So his highness has a head too big. Without Gandhi in his name, he wouldn't be cared both within his own party and publicly.

meanwhile priyanka on Modi's campaign in Amethi

Inhone Amethi ki dharti pe mere shaheed pitaa ka apmaan kiya hai, Amethi ki janta is harkat ko kahbi maaf nahi karegi. Inki neech rajniti ka jawaab mere booth ke karyakartaa denge ... Amethi ke ek ek booth se jawaab aayega ... (He has insulted my martyred father on the soil of Amethi. People of Amethi will never forgive him for this. Workers in Amethi will reply to his low-level politics. There will be reply from each of the polling booths).
:--D unfortunately Amethi's development woes are on the backburner

So this guy has a clear case of serious violation and should be sent to jail, why doesn't our media mentioned it? Why isn't it discussed at all in MSM? In case of you don't know, check this. http://navbharattimes.indiatimes.com/lok-sabha-2014/rahul-clearly-entered-evm-area-says-ec/election2014articleshow/34859854.cms
Not a FIR lodged... The EC is not taking any action like it asked Vdodra Police to file an FIR against Modi... Clear double standards....

That is one point which concerns me. Modi also mentioned it in his interview yesterday, it is about "neutrals". Like media, you expect them to behave same irrespective of the person involved, however it doesn't seem to be case in reality. On on hand, Modi was presented as a criminal by the media but now, this serious violation done by Rahul isn't even shown nor mentioned in mainstream media. It's disappointing that so called neutrals have severe biases.

Unbiased EC has let him off in the case of him present in a polling booth, inspecting an EVM. The EC says it has investigated the case and found nothing wrong as he was investigating an "EVM malfunction" and before the polling started. :phehehe: There were other instances of him present in other polling booths when voting was on but EC says it'll not investigate them because nobody's complained about it although evidence photos are available in media... EC does has the powers to take suo motto action, but in this case it says that nobody's complained hence won't investigate... BJP / AAP should again lodge complaint about his presence in other polling booths....

About Priyanka, I think the single biggest reason why is not running elections is that she will have to declare assets of spouse. That would be disastrous. And then why Priyanka Gandhi is called, it should be Priyanka Vadra.
I think both Rahul and Priyanka don't want to give up their lifestyle which they have after elections.Priyanka just shift to sarees when doing election campaign and wear modern clothes after that. Both of them just look don't interested in any type of responsibility. They just want to encash their dynasty

Well, they might look unconvincing and at times, rehearsed or like forced to act but yet these are people who are hungry for power. They stand the greatest to lose. For 60 years, they have been protected severely.

Power of handshake AsianAge The next time Bharatiya Janata Party and Aam Aadmi Party leaders plan to confront Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, they should recall some incidents of Amethi. During her campaign in Amethi, Ms Vadra was confronted by some AAP workers who wanted to know what her brother Rahul Gandhi had done for the constituency. As agitated AAP workers surrounded Ms Vadra during her campaign, she smiled and asked them to first shake hands with her and then she would reply to their questions. One handshake later, the AAP workers were actually jostling with each other to shake hands with Ms Vadra and even requested her for a keepsake photograph to which she readily agreed. AAP workers, with their caps and brooms, had a field day getting photographed with Ms Vadra and then trotted back home without asking her any questions. The following day, it was the BJP workers who stopped Ms Vadra’s convoy and demanded some answers. Ms Vadra smiled at them, spoke a few words and the previous day’s story was repeated. Unnerved by the impact that Ms Vadra had on their workers, AAP and BJP leaders, thereafter, stopped sending their workers to accost the lady on her campaign. That, perhaps, is the power of a handshake.
