From a confirmed backbencher who would let his colleagues do the dirty work of opposition MPs - raising slogans, shouting, boycotting, Rahul Gandhi is slowly showing signs that he may be evolving into a more hands-on leader. Although perhaps not as quickly as many would like to see. NDTV has learnt of Mr Gandhi's meeting with an interesting mix of party leaders that took place last week when he was seen, for the first time, protesting outside Parliament, going even to the extent of sporting a black cloth over his mouth to signal the opposition is being gagged by the government. Its high time the party rather than analyzing Modi, should focus more on its own leadership.

Their alliance partner in the outgoing government has held their share. The congress need a major revamp. That revamp should start with the gandhis.

That will definitely happen but IMO it will happen only after they have lost badly in Bihar, UP and West Bengal in the next 2 years. As for Cong going downhill rapidly - I would say its bad for democracy as we need a strong national opposition party

Congress in its current form is even worth for a opposition party. Two power centers and no intent in taking on reforms. It should die which is actually good for democracy. I agree you need a national opposition party but not in the current form of congress. If they come back to power again they repeat the same old stuff which is unnecessary for our developing country.

Ruled the country in the last decade aint worthy of being a big national party.if they come back to power they will stall most of the good work and just concentrate on powering themselves. Unless and until there is a massive change in their policies and off course the leadership, its better they remain and stay on the mat!!
sticky wicket Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 I don't see any comeback from Congress anytime soon, recent history suggests wherever they finish outside top 3, they basically become non-existent from thereon. So not looking too good for Congress in J&K, Jharkand, and MH to an extent. In its current form, it truly is Congress mukt Bharat. And regional parties forming a national coalition will make it too easy for bjp.
