For all SL fans, here is the relevant law..now please stop blaming Srinath

law 3.5.3 Suspension of play for adverse conditions of ground, weather or light If at any time the umpires together agree that the conditions of ground, weather or light are so bad that there is obvious and foreseeable risk to the safety of any player or umpire, so that it would be unreasonable or dangerous for play to take place, then they shall immediately suspend play, or not allow play to commence or to restart. The decision as to whether conditions are so bad as to warrant such action is one for the umpires alone to make. The fact that the grass and the ball are wet and slippery does not warrant the ground conditions being regarded as unreasonable or dangerous. If the umpires consider the ground is so wet or slippery as to deprive the bowler of a reasonable foothold, the fielders of the power of free movement, or the batsmen of the ability to play their strokes or to run between the wickets, then these conditions shall be regarded as so bad that it would be unreasonable for play to take place.

From the game, it looked like SL wanted to go off & shorten the match which Aussies were not in favor off. Sri Lanka's attempt to manipulate the game in their favour cost them a chance to take the series. Serves them right.

:finger: yeah right, who the hell do you think you are?.... Even the aussies agree the match officials made a blunder..Just because Srinath is an Indian, don't defend his stroke of stupidity...
Unlike you Lankans we dont grovel before the white ones. What is this Aussies agree? What about the two umpires? Sent from my GT-I9103 using Tapatalk 2

For all SL fans' date=' here is the relevant law..now please stop blaming Srinath[/quote'] Doesn't the match referee have the final say? This is not something like an on-field decision where the umpires call is the final.

Yeah sure' date=' this was very civilized as well.[/quote'] O.K. sorry about the "waste of space" part..Shouldn't have said that. But the fact remains that Mr.Srinath was wrong to call off the match when the conditions were not dangerous...

You should thank Srinath, otherwise you'd lose this series 2-3. This decision ensured that you'll at least not lose the series.

Yup, exactly.
I don't think Jaya mind the abandonment. Probably he's doing all this to show how Lanka cares about this thing and would have won it just to look brave :) Inside they are happy they didn't had to chase it down. They were almost about to lose that game where they were chasing 76. Aus should have defended that total on that damp pitch.
No, this photo show the real story. His excellency Mahela was very disappointed from the look of it. He was desperate to play; 153639.jpg

had the match been played in those conditions and lanka were to lose still the whinging brigade headed by the lady would have pointed fingers at srinath saying he should have abandoned the game

Are you retarded ? The match referee cant do anything if the umpires and groundsmen think the match cant resume because the conditions are not good enough. Its their decision which matters. Blame them if you have a problem, you idiot.

:haha: at your knowledge....Go read the role of a match referee from somewhere' date='he is not appointed to sit pretty and do nothing...[/quote'] I cant imagine the match ref going against umpires and groundsmen despite them saying conditions are not fit for play to resume and be responsible for Aussie players getting injured in the outfield. Anyway keep whining. Its good time pass for us. :hysterical::hysterical:

Argh.. lots of pain it seems.. LMAO. These sensible Indians. :hysterical:
They will defend IPL, BCCI, various trundlers and pie throwers even if they are wrong or mediocre. I wonder if there on BCCI payroll.
