There may be some more angle to this incident like personal vendetta etc as victim is being tried in a case of attempt to murder. She was out on bail. But anyways good job by youths to take her to hospital. http://in.news.yahoo.com/bathinda-gang-rape-victim-bail-police-134001582.html

Bathinda, Jan 21 (IANS) The Jan 18 abduction and gang-rape of a young woman in this Punjab town got another twist Monday. The police here said the woman was out on bail in an attempt to murder case after she allegedly injected a married woman with HIV-infected blood last year. The gang-rape victim, a nurse from Punjab's Moga district and in her early 20s, was admitted to a hospital here after she alleged that she was abducted Friday, gang-raped for two days and then dumped on the roadside near here Sunday. The nurse alleged that she was also filmed by her attackers. She was found on the Bathinda-Dabwali road, 20 km from here, Sunday evening, a police official said, adding that some motorists informed them about her. Doctors at the civil hospital here said that her medical examination showed that she was sexually assaulted. But police officers said they were looking at other angles in this case as the nurse herself was out on bail in a case of attempt to murder registered against her and her lover, Sunil Kumar, for allegedly injecting his wife with HIV-infected blood in March last year. "Sunil is still in jail while she was released on bail. The allegation against them (Sunil and the nurse) was that they tried to kill his wife after she refused to give him divorce. We are looking into all aspects," a senior police officer said here. Police sources said the rape victim and Sunil, who had developed relations, wanted to get married. Police investigators said the nurse told them she had gone to Chandigarh, about 230 km from here, Friday for a job in a private hospital. "As she was standing near the inter-state bus terminus (ISBT) in Sector 43, a Maruti Swift car stopped near her and asked for directions. The victim alleged that two men and a woman were seated in the car and she was pulled inside by them." "She claims that she was given an injection and fell unconscious. When she regained consciousness, she saw the men making MMSes of her. She alleged that she was gang-raped by these men for two days," a police official said. The nurse was being treated for her injuries at the hospital.

Bathinda rape fabricated, ‘victim’ taken into custody A Moga nurse who claimed she was gang raped for two days before being dumped in Bathinda on Sunday night, had faked it, the police claimed. Rubbishing the rape charge, the police arrested the woman, who was out on bail in an attempt-to-murder case, along with one Rohtash Kumar, who claimed to have brought her to the hospital in an unconscious state. The woman and Rohtash were in league, the police said, and the idea was to get even with her boyfriend Sunil Kumar’s wife and her family. Earlier, she and Sunil had tried to kill his wife for which Sunil is still in jail. In her complaint to the Bathinda police on Sunday, the woman had alleged that she had been abducted from outside the Sector 43 inter-state bus terminus in Chandigarh on Friday by two women – one of them Sunil’s wife -- and two men. She alleged that she had been raped by two unidentified men and thrown out of a moving car in Bathinda. She also alleged that she had been filmed by her attackers. According to the police, the woman told her family she was going for an interview in Chandigarh but instead went to meet Rohtash and Ramesh in Dabwali, where she stayed the night. Later, they enacted the scene-after-rape at the Bathinda-Dabwali road. On Monday IGP Nirmal Singh Dhillon said, “A year ago, the woman and Sunil were charged with torturing and injecting his wife with unsterilised needles, which gave her HIV/AIDS. In Abohar jail, they became friends with Rohtash and Ramesh, who became co-conspirators.According to an agency report, doctors at the Bathinda civil hospital said the woman’s medical examination showed she had been sexually assaulted. The police, however, said the woman and Rohtash had had consensual sex to prove rape. http://www.hindustantimes.com/India-news/NorthIndia/Bathinda-rape-fabricated-victim-taken-into-custody/Article1-995891.aspx ------------------------------------------------------------------------ If this news is true....then she should also be put through the fast track court and get the harshest punishment there is. People like this not onlyare accountable to their victims but also to the women of this country. It is because of scumbags like these that rape victims have to go through hell during rape trails. It is because of sick women like this that we cannot have stricter laws. As for the OP...we live in really sad times and a sad country that something as simple as taking a victim to the hospital needs to be applauded as bravery. It is sad but considering the sad state of the police ...it does need bravery.(Not in this case though ...as it turns out the bravehearts were hand in glove with the now accused woman.)

Chandigarh Tribune: One of the falsely accused men has committed suicide. Why mainstream Indian media is not showing this news?
Because men do not get much sympathy in our society. It was said that in the Delhi rape case, it was not the rape, but the sheer brutality that outraged the nation. Do you think if a man was brutalized in similar fashion under similar circumstances, the nation would have been outraged? No way. We do not sympathize with men. And news channels will show what will get them the TRPs.

If men were being systematically discriminated against and an incident of such brutal fashion happened, they would garner the same sympathy and protests.

Indian generations grow up watching dialogues like "mard ko dard nahin hota". No wonder sentiments like these become core of the very system that we live in and men too start thinking that they have no right to complain or crib. A sobbing woman would draw sympathy from all quarters while a sobbing man would be called eunuch. However, you can't do much about these societal rules as they evolve over centuries based on needs and requirements of human beings and societies at large. Problem arises when governance (force) change societal rules unitaterally without taking all considerations in account.
