In my personal opinion the only scare in legalising prostitution would be an increase in the number of human trafficing and many innocent women being safe passaged into the bussiness, which is as bad a greive as rape.

CSK Fan Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Actually today, because prostitution is not legal, these places do not need to keep a record of the number of employees thye have, their background, etc. If it is completely legalised then each prostitution place needs to keep a track of their employees and have to disclose their background. Even surprise visits by auditors/officials etc will be possible. They will have to declare their source of income and avoid using under age women so that their license is not cancel. Women working as prostitutes will be legally employeed so can take legal recourse if they have any issues and even goverment officials can check on them from time to time. So IMO, it will decrease the number of women who are kidnapped and forced into prostitution.

Legalizing prostitution will force brothels to regulate their employees. Prostitutes will have to submit to medical tests and it will ensure they are safe and clean. Prostitutes will have to pay taxes which will help raise revenue for the country. Most importantly, prostitutes will be treated as a person for the most part. Police will no longer be reluctant to search for a missing prostitute. Prostitutes will be legally protected. Prostitutes will no longer be confined to work for a pimp. They can be independent and self sufficient no longer subject to the abuse and subjugation of their handlers.
Clarke Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 We'll have to reform the police depts top to bottom before its legalized. We need law enforcement before creating newer laws, not an armed militia of the corrupt & powerful as some have rightly said.

In sexually repressed societies, rapes are still overwhelmingly a crime of power for the 30+ crowd but also commonplace in the late teens/early 20s crowd as a combination of power & sexual frustration, egoic responses towards rejections, etc. Atleast, that is what the criminologists tend to think on the issue.

However, it is a crime for a sex worker to seduce or solicit business (Section 7) and so is prostitution in or in the vicinity of public places (Section 8). From the client's perspective, again it is a crime to be engaging in prostitution in or in the vicinity of public places (Section 8). Obviously sexual exploitation of a child is a crime. In terms of third parties, everything is illegal; from keeping a brothel or providing premises to be used as a brothel (Section 3) to procuring or trafficking (Section 5). In fact it is illegal to knowingly live, in whole or part, on the earnings of prostitution of another person (Section 4). Source

But psychology of rape(ists) not as simple.
