King Tendulkar Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Well they do need squad together in case of injury etc. But still a shame, would have been nice to see them in final.
rkt.india Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Pujara should play in place of struggling Rahane in next 2 matches.
saneindian Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Boneheads. Shows their contempt for domestic cricket. Rohit is not going to get into the 11, what has he gained by missing the QF and SF?
Clarke Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Makes sense, you need to prioritize the national squad and they get to keep the 15/16.
Pagalpanti Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Pujara should play in place of struggling Rahane in next 2 matches. So Sachin retires so that a youngster gets chance only for 3 games? :giggle: If it were upto Indian fans, we'd field new XI after every loss.

Rahane is looking out of sorts especially against Finn, not coming forward is a distinct weakness which I have been seeing in him for a long time. This is how we mostly back wrong horses.
Magneto Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Boneheads. Shows their contempt for domestic cricket. Rohit is not going to get into the 11, what has he gained by missing the QF and SF? Saved some reputation :--D He's at a stage where people will not applaud his Ranji success, but laugh at all his Ranji failures. On topic, keeping them for the final ODI is fair. If you relieve both of them, and someone gets injured in the morning of the game playing football, you'll be one batsman short.

Think the team we have currently will most likely be the team for Champions Trophy which is our next ODI assignment in June. Mishra will be dropped for Irfan or some other pacer. If the likes of Sehwag, Uthappa, Tiwary sore heavily in the IPL, only then will they have a chance.

He has performed on every given opportunity (Challenger Series + Eng tour OD game), is eager and hungry, and is in form of course. Gambo/Sehwag/Rahane has now failed enough for Dhawan to be given a chance. This, of course, if Rahane looks equally clueless in the other two games.

Dont think this is going to help. He has certainly developed some kind of mental block against Finn because of his height. It is better to give others chance.

If you don't give him a run (after keeping him as waterboy for 15 months), people/media will cry foul and the selectors will be under pressure and again keep him in the squad for CT. And also he needs a run for the sake of fairness.

Otherwise, few more failures will only put him under pressure.

I want Pujara to play in last 2 matches.

IPL performances do have an impact on selection. If Rahane fails here and in IPL too, it will surely point out that he is at least out of form. Pujara is not likely to play the 4th ODI since India will continue with the winning combination.
Lord Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Rahane looks poor.not an ODI player imo.Pujara should play
