Disgraceful decision dropping Rahane/Well done Rohit!

A young guy who has proven to be the only youngster (bar Pujara) who can handle pace and bounce gets dropped for a batsman who has had numerous chances and is not an opener. GG should have been dropped if anyone. Regardless am happy to see Rohit playing a match winnings innings and MOM if we win

Rahane :fail: over and over again until it was not practical to keep him. As for Gambhir, he has proven him self time and time again. It's less risky to go with an out of form Gambhir vs out of form Rahane.

Rahane has barely had 2 ODI's, Gambhirs failures have been lasting for 2yrs+, by that argument you would be better off picking an out of form Sehwag, Tendulkar, Dravid, Agarkar etc as they have all done well some time in the past so bound to do so again. GG has averaged below 40 in ODI's in the last few yrs which is poor for someone who plays so many games in SC

Definitely a better bet! Not sure about Agarkar, although I'd pick him ahead of dindas and koomars anyday. As for Sachin, i'd pick him ten years from now let alone right now.

It was ctaully disgraceful to drop rahane and then compound the disgrace not to replace him with Rahane O well worked out ok
You mean Pujs I guess. I think he was given far too short a straw, yes opportunities have to be grabbed at this level but given how long he has sat on the sidelines this was harsh. Still as has been said, happy to see Rohit get some runs , opening no less...

Just because they dropped him, doesnt mean he is permanently removed from the side. At the moment, he is not doing well. No point in making him play and cost the team. He will definitely get an opportunity again and hopefully he corrects his mistakes and does well.

Domestic one-day averages: Rohit Sharma - 34.06 Ajinkya Rahane - 36.10 Cheteshwar Pujara - 56.97
that tells how terrible a decision this was

Are they domestic one day averages or List A averages because with List A, I think they also add ODI scores and hence Rohit's average could come down. In any case, you cant take domestic records very seriously. There is a big gap between International cricket and FC.

Its a different case when it comes to Pujara. He has done as well as did in FC.

He hasnt played ODIs yet. Let's see how he does when he plays in that format.

now that this guy nohit got his 50 plus score he will start being noshow for another 30 matches.
well maybe opening in odis is his thing, we need to see. One thing for sure, he is best player of short ball in odi team. No one can pull like him
