vvvslaxman Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 It is very funny you ask this. Tiwary and Rahane combined have played a grand total of 24 ODI's. Tiwary has played just 8 of them and has done reasonably well in the chances he has received. He averages 36 with the bat. We have to remember that Tiwary has hardly played 3 games together for India. He will play one game and have a break and then come back suddenly and play another, so it is difficult for a player to be consistent if they aren't given a consistent run. Rahane is going through the same thing right now. The guy hardly gets 4-5 games together. He fails in couple of innings and he gets replaced. Now for the most important stat, Rohit played 14 games last year for a absolutely stunning average of 13. Now tell me how did he even deserve to be in the squad. Even yesterday, I don't know how many of you even watched the game. When he was on 13 he tried his best to get out. There was a catch which was messed up by Pieterson at mid-off and then another one which dropped short of the fielder. If Pieterson had judged it better he would failed again. I will wait for 4-5 games and then agree that he has actually arrived. The guy has played 87 matches for gods sake. It is almost 4 times the games of Rahane+Tiwary combined and he averages 30 with the bat. He is extremely lucky to receive so much of backing. Rahane will be thinking what he has done wrong to receive this treatment. I guess Rahane and Tiwary are constantly playing with the fear that they might be dropped with couple of failure. Not a great mindset to approach an international game. In this scenario Rahane's fear turned out to be true. Can't believe the love Rohit enjoys throughout India, I haven't seen any player in the last 20 years to have received so many chances for being mediocre. There have been players who have had better careers but have been still dropped for few continuous failures. It is just that India are struggling for good batters which is the reason Rohit is getting so many games. I am sure he wouldn't get even close to Indian teams of the late 90's and early 2000's with this kind of record. That is where they throw the word "talent" and con us :cantstop:
Magneto Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 both have ipl to fall back on So play IPL for 45 days and do something else for the rest 10 months. :winky:

Lord Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Rahane and Tiwary can comfortably retire now and seek another profession. Not too late still. Ten years down the line' date=' they'll think they have wasted ten years hoping.[/quote']

We have been foxed for the past 5 years now with it. But, Rahane has to be in a fix right now. He keeps seeing Gambhir being persisted even though his and Martin's batting are tantamount. Also, guys like Rohit and Jadeja keep coming back but the window of failures for Rahane is very narrow.
Magneto Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 murali vijay style :dontknow: I have seen Vijay's Test debut from the ground. Looked so fluent and casual and confident.
CG Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 playing finn well does not means he was not making same mistake near 50 he was doing his usual shyte and 8 out of 10 times he fails in such situations he puts himself in What are u talking about. He played ground strokes near fifty and tried to get to a half century.
Lord Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I have seen Vijay's Test debut from the ground. Looked so fluent and casual and confident. so it was you:facepalm: hope Pujara doesnt debut next game

Rahane and Tiwary are recent victims. People like Robin Uthappa who is extremely talented too, never gets a call back in spite of having some good domestic seasons. He did not get 80 games, not even close to it. The funny part is that his last game was against Sri Lanka where Mendis destroyed the Indian lineup with his 6-13. In the same game Rohit got out for 3 and Robin was the one who provided some resistance along with Dhoni in that game. Now Rohit is still playing for India and Robin is nowhere close to selection. What is so great about Rohit that these other players lack. Anyone who makes the national team is talented, that's the reason they are picked.
Sandeep99 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Feel bad for Manoj Tiwari. Here's this super talented Rohit scores a 80 (good on him, classy knock) and suddenly we see commies/captain talking about career defining innings, this move will change his career,he needed this innings blah blah.. and then there is Manoj Tiwari who scored a 100 opening as well but poor guy had to wait for so many matches to get back into the team again.Different yardsticks for different players. But I hope Rohit finally shows some consistency when he is getting so much backing. Rohiit is India's long term investment, Tiwary is good, but not as good or talented as Sharma! Get the diff
vvvslaxman Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I wonder if Pujara got this much attention after scoring a great test century in the 2nd test against England.
vvvslaxman Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 England should have tried simple strategy of bowling straight 6 balls in a row lol
King Tendulkar Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Tiwary cannt play short ball or decent pace bowling. Will get raped overseas.
Number Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 murali vijay style :dontknow: murli vijay is a legend in lois. Got 18 T20 and ODI innings and never crossed 40 except once against Afghanistan:haha:.
Lord Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Tiwary cannt play short ball or decent pace bowling. Will get raped overseas. what do you base that on?
Number Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 ^I guess his innings in Gabba 08 then on WI tour after world cup. In IPL he struggles against bounce. I am not writing him off but he has that problem.
saneindian Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Why is Tiwary being discussed now? He was injured and has only recovered recently. Can't get him back to the national side right away. And looking at it, he will now be competing with Yuvraj for the middle order spot. Yuvraj has escaped scrutiny since his comeback but has failed in 2 ODI series back to back. With Dhoni not opting to bowl him at all, will become a handicap for Yuvi if he plays as a specialist batsman, will need to become more consistent. In a sense good signs that we are having tight competition for spots. Will only spurr the players to do better.
King Tendulkar Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 what do you base that on? Watching him bat. Same problem Yuvraj has, Raina has and Jadeja has( I have listed these 3 in order of whose best against short ball/pace, with yuvi being the best). Thats why all 4 should be not near test side if we want batters who can play all over world

I am not writing him off but he has that problem. Gabba 08 was barely hours after landed in Aus.didnt get any opporunities after that in series. in WI he was out to Sammy n Pollard.hardly anything to go by.can happen cant say much about T20 he has done well on A tours AFAIK.maybe a problem, but not anything major.can be worked upon.hes not as bad as Raina for sure
